Upgrade for the new season?

Last year's spring I mounted these Shimano Altus levers. And although they work well - and will probably do so for the next hundred years or so - there's no finesse, and the whole mowing experience is suffering.

So, I want to upgrade for this season. I'm thinking of mounting a Simplex Rétro-friction set. What do you think? Any better ideas?

Frankly I am appalled that you ruined that classic mower by not replacing the original throttle with a period correct throttle. My LMS (Bent and Broken, LLC.) has tons of vintage mower parts - if I needed a Briggs, Kohler, Honda, or virtually any other part - I could locate it in their huge bin 'o parts in a year or so.

My classic mower, a Snapper 3.5 HP Briggs, is original excepting the consumables (blade and wheel bushings).

It it so awesome, both vertically compliant while maintaining lateral stiffness, that I had to purchase this accessory to handle the massive amount yard waste I create with this tool.
