Cool C & V Campagnolo video

https://youtu.be/w08HBsIuayc

Campagnolo has just put out this video showing the history of their derailleurs through the years. The dates aren't really all that accurate when you look at the bike in question or the actual introduction date but cool nonetheless.

Not big enough for a company historian.
Good concept though, most of the transitions work pretty well.

I think I would have done:
Cambio Corsa
Gran Sport
Nuovo Record
Late Super record
Initial Ergo Shifting
First full Carbon
Current 11 speed.

Might be too long at that point.
Maybe selected a climb with enough switchbacks to transition at every turn.

Fun video, but their new cranks are just as ugly as Shimano's.

It is amazing how much better the Super Record stuff looks than the current stuff.

Pretty cute.

It would have been funny if somewhere along the line they popped in a bike with Valentino; to see Mr Bike Racer openly sobbing

This was a promotional video.

I have to review the 75th anniversary book again, I think that gives Corsa Record short shrift too.

Nice video. I wonder if Campagnolo will be around in 20 years? Seems like most of the younger cyclist I talk to have little intrest in it. Seems like a baby boomer brand.

The C Record era may seem a dark era for Campy.
Campy as a company is bringing about its own downfall.

I haven't seen a single rider at the Tuesday night crits using Campy for a few years.

Nor have I seen it on the gravel rides to speak of.

Most of the club guys I ride with use modern Campy, but they are all over 50.

Nice video though. I enjoyed it.

Location Bias? I think it's probably still pretty popular in Europe and the international markets as a whole probably bring a decent chunk. They weathered the C-record era pretty well. It's a national brand. I would imagine that they would get assistance if they were ever in danger financially.

Maybe not though.

I have ridden a fair amount in Bayern, Switzerland, Austria and a bit in the Alsace region of France.

It usually strikes me how few Campy equipped bikes I actually see.

Back to the video though, it does a nice job of highlighting interesting moments in the rich rich history of the company.

There will always be a boutique market for Campagnolo but i predict it will shrink as new generations of riders emerge.

So it would have been more accurate had the rider turned into an overweight 50+ year-old by the end?

Cool video, though.

Heh, Greg Lemond has slimmed down, so there's hope.

Some of us over 50 have kids that we insure ride Campagnolo as much as possible.
Every bit helps.
Campagnolo may become the Ferrari of bike components.
A foot in the racing world, then sell to the elitists.

I have a residual fondness for Campagnolo as a brand, and a corresponding loathing for Shimano. Even so, I haven't bought a new Campy component since 1984, and I have bought many new Shimano components since then. So it appears my fondness for Campy has become a vestige of my youth. I wish them well, but they don't sell anything I want to buy.

What happened to C-Rec, Chorus, Victory and Synchro? Was that just a dream like Bob Newhart owning a B&B?

Cool video though.
