What Reynolds decal for '74 Raleigh International?

I am in the process of refurbishing a '74 Raleigh International that I purchased a few months ago. There were just a few flakes left of the Reynolds 531 decal on the seat tube and I would like to replace it with the year correct decal. Can any of you with the same year International with original (or known correct replacement) please post up a picture of the decal? Also, can you suggest the best place to obtain a new one?
Thanks,
Mel

I think it's this one for a '74:

Or possibly this one. Tube Investments (TI) bought Reynolds in the mid 70s, but it's not clear when the TI logo was added to the decal:

How are they different? I believe that the one in the picture is Neal Lerner's '74 International.

In the gold area one says Manufactured by "TI Reynolds..." the one you quoted says Manufactured by Reynolds Tube Co. Ltd.

Thanks, both of you. It looks like the difference is that one is T I Reynolds and the other is just Reynolds in the gold portion at the bottom. The fork triangle Reynolds decals are there and I'll look to see if they show one way or the other.

Yeah, that 74/75 era is a bit murky as far as when Raleigh used the Ti 531 Reynolds decal. It wouldn't surprise me to find '74 Internationals with either.

Good point xiaoman. They don't always get the color correct on the "531". I understand green is one of the harder colors to print.

Is that the original decal, steelbikeguy? Great condition if so.

I would not be surprised that 1974 had both types of transfers, depending on what was left.

It's not a plain green. There's a bit of blue in it.

This is the original decal. I got the bike around 2000... from a fellow who got it in the box from a shop that was closing. The bike is in incredible condition.

I guess that pic of steelbikeguy's Raleigh is a good indication, since it's original and looks to have been well protected from sunlight and the elements. Best looking original forty year old Reynolds decal I've seen here.

I've noticed some...all the repops I've seen in person, which is 3... The green doesn't look quite right to me. At least compared with the four orginals I have on bikes here. Which tend to a more aqua-green color. Of course, they could have faded some.

Thanks.. it is indeed a lovely bike.

Having owned a Gran Sport prior to this, I knew how relatively fragile the Raleigh decals were. I was on the Classic Rendezvous list at the time, in the early days of the list, and was able to get Brian Baylis to apply a light clear coat to protect it. Seems to have worked so far.

I've got pics on my flickr site (some good pics, some bad)...

As evidence of that, here's the Reynolds decal from a different '74 Int'l; you can see the remains of the "Ti" part.

My '74 doesn't include the 'Manufactured by ... ' section. Decal is original for sure.

This one is different from Bandera's as well.

steelbikeguy, teal a little bit of blue....colors always hard to describe but a little bit of blue...yes (no teal on color selection)

Thanks for posting that Steve. A real beauty indeed. Interesting about the clear coat. I did a couple of mine too, despite warnings not to do so. It does help.

1974 Raleigh International- Original Reynolds Decal, seat tube top

Here's my 41 year old Reynolds Decal, on my Champagne Int'l.

And, the replacements supplied by VeloCals, unlike the original due to bottom script.

Did you request that Velocals decal, P-lover, or did they just supply the "wrong" one? I suppose it doesn't matter all that much as has been shown, they over-lapped some I guess. FWIW, I ordered a "gold band" replacement for a mostly gone decal on my 75 Le Champion, from a well-known decal maker we all know. But it was so poorly done I decided to use an "improper" one, sans the gold band, from H Lloyds. It was a water slide, and very crisp and precise. But the green was a little too green to my eye.
