Wow, just wow!

That is beautiful! Perfect geometry. Looks fast just standing still. And red and Italian? It just goes together!

I hope I run into you on the streets someday. I'd love to see that Cinelli in person!

Some objects, including bikes, have QUALITY infused into them to a degree where it's apparent just looking at them. This is sure one of them!

Not for me. High flange hubs would look weird to me on this epitome of 1980s Italian cycling style. Low flange is more to my taste. I really only like high flange hubs on mid 1970s and earlier racing bikes for no particular reason other than looking at bikes on the internet, old pro photos and movies have shaped my tastes that way.

I recommend swapping out the existing "Cobalto" brake nut with a regular one. And put the nice one in your parts box. Otherwise you will come home from a ride and notice it fell off somewhere 30 miles from your house.

Beautiful bike. If you plan on riding it, and no selling (that seems to be your MO), I would recommend going modern Campagnolo w/Neutron wheels, or some handbuilts.

I own a 1984 Cinelli SC that was the last bike I bought new. They do not have the panache of the older Cino bikes, but they ride every bit as good. It's not my favorite bike to ride, but I'd never sell it.

Thank you all! Responding to some questions:

I had noticed that as well, and already had a pair of gems on order when I created the post Can't say I ever foresaw the day I'd be applying fake gems to bicycle components

No engravings on the crank arm, so I am guessing the group is an '86 (which makes sense, given that both the purchase and the build occurred in '86).

Naively, may I ask why? (Is there something about the Omega Strada hardox's performance that I should know about?)

I would promptly order Veloflex Master 25s for that nice Cinelli.

You can thank me later.

No, nothing wrong with them at all. I was speaking of going to modern Campagnolo components, and using Neutrons because of their traditional spoke pattern, which I think looks better on classic steel bikes.

Amazing. Cinelli really had a hell of a flair for a long time. I'm not sure I like their more recent stuff.

I rode a very old Cinelli track bike at Kissena Velodrome, and they also knew how to make a bike that rides great.

Very interesting, Tom. Any photos of this Cinelli Pista?

That is a beauty Tom...I like the one he had painted that had apparently sat around for 20 + years without being finished; I thought long and hard about buying that a long while back.

Older photos with bilious background. I've since changed the tape to blue & took off the brake. The thing looks almost new, which is a miracle given the fragile decals & paint.

Noglider looked like such a champion on it!

Thanks Michael. My friend Kyle (he of the silver E46 Touring) was in your shop recently and had mentioned to me that you have an amazing collection of track bikes on display!

Style trumps substance in these matters. At our age it'd better.

I think they've still got it where it counts.

Is that a modern one, @icepick_trotsky? Their track bikes look nothing like that.

It is. Cinelli still makes the Super Corsa in both road and track frames. You're right, though, it seems to be a "retro" model compared to their aluminum offerings. Nice to see the classic still in production, regardless.

Thanks for the link. I browsed all of their frames. Their non-retro models look pretty bad to me. Oh well.
