Bianchi - 1982 Nuova Racing

Just wanted to share my restoration project. Bought this 82 Nuova Racing (also listed in some places as Nuovo Racing) because the frame is in such incredible shape. Columbus TreTubi 3 main tubes SL/SP with straight gauge stays and Falck fork. Decided to keep all the original components on it instead of upgrading to Campagnolo. I have drawers of Campy components waiting for a project like this, but the allure of an all original Nuova Racing has won out. A busy schedule has forced me to take my time with this project, but I can't get my car into the garage until I finish, so it will have to wrap up pretty soon. Here's some pics.

I like it, but I am biased -- see signature. Tre tubi frames are great.

With a bike in this good a shape, I would have left all the original parts on it as well. Great bike and nice job.

Very nice! My wife has an 81 or 82 model that has had some mods, though we have all the original parts save the brakes and levers.
The paint and decals are very straight on yours. Enjoy! They're really nice riding bikes.

I came across a nice Nuova Racing frameset on Craigslist about 3 years ago. So many old Bianchis are rust buckets; I couldn't believe a nice one in my size practically landed on my doorstep.

I made no attempt to restore it - just built it up to ride. It was lacking a Tre Tubi decal so I bought one on eBay. I know the fork is technically not Columbus but I couldn't let the small decals go to waste.

I just picked up a 1981 Nouvo Racing but mine was not nearly in as nice shape, in fact it was nearly a basket case. Bent fork, rusty frame, trashed bottom bracket- but I was looking for a challenge and got it for a price that was worth it for just the good parts. Mine will be a slow restore too since I need to repaint, but I did take it for a couple of rides (after getting the fork fixed) and I'm looking forward to finishing it.

Interestingly mine is an '81 but has many different details. The decals are typical of '70s bikes that looks like -Bianchi- and the fork crown is flat with Bianchi engraved in it. Mine has the same Universal brakes.

Nice find! Love my 1980 Nuovo Racing, bought it new and will never part with it, was repainted a while back, it has a ton of miles on it and it is still an absolute joy to ride. Good luck on your build!
