1988 Giant RS940 rebuild

Hi everyone,

This is jumping on another thread where I had asked for help on identifying the real RD for this bike, looks like there had been an accident or incident with this bike and a few of the parts were damaged / replaced. This was a fun build and my first attempt at refinishing and painting a frame. I was able to identify the actual RD that came with this bike (Thank you T-Mar) and gave it a little bit of cool look. I really like the frame on this bike very light and aggressive, please let me know what you think!

Here are the Before's:

That came out nice. Well done! It looks a bit small for you though. And I hope that seat post is longer than I think it is, or you might be in for a painful experience.

Thanks and yes a little small for me, Christmas present for my father in law. That is the max height location for the post, it's a very nice seat post much longer then he other bikes I have.

OK, it's super ugly, and you need to ship it to me for disposal.
I'll make sure it does not get wasted in a landfill.
Seriously, just trying to help you out.

Trust me.
Really.

I really like it too, even though I don't think it "needed" a repaint. And if you're taking that irreversible step, why obsess about finding the original derailleur? That's a bit like worrying about the slight gap between your front teeth when you're planning on getting dragon tattoos up and and down each side of your neck

Anyway, you made it look better than Giant did.

I would LOVE to build a bike for my father in law; he really needs the exercise. But he wouldn't ride it anyway.

Thanks for the kind words, the RD was more about keeping the group set intact, personal preference but its like getting the band back together.

Nice job on the rebuild. Well done. And good work on the paint too. What group set does it have? Something Shimano?

Thank you, yes shimano exage sis. I do not like this specific FD as it doesn't have much room for adjustment and is very close to the crank arm when adjusted properly. Other then that everything else looks of good quality.
