Avocet 45TT - calibration isn't working

I found a NOS Avocet 45TT computer at a bike swap a couple of weeks ago. It was new in box but didn't have the mounting bracket with cable and pickup sensor with it. Luckily I have a box of extras and was able to find an extra bracket. I installed a new battery and set up the sensor based on the manual but it seems to be about 15% too low on speed and distance. I upped the calibration number and it didn't help and I lowered it but the distance remains off.
What should I do? Is the sensor and mounting bracket specific to the model of the Avocet or are they interchangeable? Maybe that is the problem? Anyone else have calibration issues with Avocet computers?

GG

Sure you're not being optimistic about your speed?

The Avocet manuals with calibration instructions are available online:
Avocet downloadable manuals and catalogs

Battery life is short on these, so I have to reset mine periodically as the calibration settings don't stick.

Also, remember to set it to the correct measurement (miles/km).

I usually ride 30mph up our local mountains but it reads 4mph. It must be broken.

,in all seriousness I mounted my Gamin 800 next to it for a few rides.

That's why I use a Sigma Sport BC700. It shows that I ride 15% further and faster than I really ride.

In a couple of years I'm going to a Vetta C-5 which will get me up to over 20%.

You don't get older you just get faster!

I have the manuals and I followed the instructions for the manual measurements and the guide based on wheel size and neither have me results that were very accurate. I wonder if the mount and pickup are not compatible with the ring on the hub??

here's my setup. The base says Avocet so I know it is Avocet but not sure if it is compatible with the 45TT

I have an old Avocet 30 with the same wheel ring and pickup and I cannot get it to work at all. Good battery and a display. It appears that the air gap between the ring and the 'sensor' is critical. I gave up. It really seems like Avocet offered a solution to a problem that did not exist. The simple spoke magnet and switch systems are accurate and reliable and can mount all over the place (near the rim, near the hub, front wheel, back wheel, etc). Mine is in a box upstairs. It became high effort and low return. Sorry I cannot help either.
