You can't do it and keep the original rivets. You will need to remove them totally and replace them with new.

Also: That is a very nice & valuable bike! I would not repaint it unless you really, really need to.

Agree. It certainly needs a pro level restoration that include reproducing the decals and the tubing sticker.

Anyway, you should not be doing this yourself. Send it to a pro paint shop. This bike is worth the expense.

I agree, try to save the original paint if you can. It may not be possible, but please try. The new bad paintwill probably come off with a common solvent like naphtha or the like. A proper repaint will be expensive and reduce the value of the bike, so really doesn't make sense. Save your money for Campagnolo Record Pista components, which won't come cheap but will hold their value.

The fork is curious to me.

Bummer on the dent on the top tube. Tough area to work out being so close to the lug.
Since it is though, I would look how accessible it could be from the seat tube region.

Ok,

thanks for all advices. But as I said someone already did some bad repainting and there is a small damage on tubing. Is there any type of oldschool paint (brand) which you can recommend. I know that those new, eco stuff is not what it use to be...

1973. It was made in Worksop. Is not one of the actual Team Professionals (made in Ilkeston and having SB serials). Very nice bicycle none-the-less, but I don't believe that this is quite the super-valuable frame that others are thinking. I don't know what's a good match on the color, but if you can find it, and either touch-up yourself or have it repainted, I would not hesitate for fear of possibly devaluing it.

I am wondering if the fork is original as well. If a magnet doesn't stick, it's a replacement for sure.

What he said...if it's Worksop it would be a nice, valuable bike in good shape...but with a dent and likely replacement fork? Not so much.

Zorro...I didn't realize Worksop did drilled drops...I thought that was just Ikelston and usually reserved for 753.

With Raleigh, all things are possible.

Well said.

I finally got my SBDU. It came by way of Ed/Picchio Special and was apparently Connie Carpenter's. It's an 83'...seatpost is 26.8, Imperial 753 tubing with drilled fork ends.

Sweet. A 753 frame with provenance. but to think Ed didn't offer it to me...

I was assuming it was an Ilkeston bike, so maybe not quite as precious.

But still, a very cool bike.
