interesting machine. No brakes at all? It does not look like it has any fittings for even a spoon brake. Probably not the easiest bike to mount and dismount from.

Wow, you have an impressive amount of work to do on that thing. I imagine the $100 retail price in 1896 really narrowed down the potential market.

Where did you pick it up / how did you acquire it? Where are you sourcing parts from...or are you planning on trying to bring most of the parts back to life?

This forum is great when you have specific asks or inquiries for the folks that hang around here. It's less useful when you don't.

A decent amount of work. I actually found it in the depths of eBay, got it shipped. No needs to source parts as I e bike bank of my own. Most parts have been brought back to life. Shes a beauty so far!

Very cool bit of history, and it looks like quite the project.

Are all the parts original? Will this be restored for display only, or is the object to be able to take it for the occasional ceremonial ride?

I just did the nifty Google street view of 155 w 23rd St. in NYC.

Although it looks like the business is closed, there are some bikes chained up outside.

The niftier thing... I found I could go inside Francisco's Centro Vasco. Yay Google.
