1970's Raleigh Sports women's 3 speed clincher or tubular

I'm thinking about buying an old Raleigh 3 speed for my granddaughter and fixing it up. Does anyone know if they came with clincher tires? It has a 21 inch frame. It's in original condition meaning good shape. If they have 700 clinchers, they should have easy to find tires. Thanks

Yes, they came with clinchers. Tubulars are not that common and tend to come on racing bikes. You can tell the difference pretty easily when you check out the bike. A tubular tire is glued on to the rim; clinchers are not.

Also, watch the tire size carefully when you buy a replacement. The original rims are thought of as "26" but there are a number of distinct sizes that have that designator. It may seem a strange Britiosynchracy now, but the original size for your bike was as standard and common as can be back in the day.

1970s Raleigh Sports came with 26 x 1 1/8" tires, sometimes marked as EA3 or ISO 590. Lots of info on tires sizes here:

You meant 26 x 1 3/8, right? In any case, 590mm is the operative measurement.

Oh, yeah, now I need to figure out what happened to that missing 1/4". It was right around here somewhere.

Have you looked under the couch cushions? I've been losing quarters there for years.
