1977 Schwinn Volare

OK...it took me a while to get this one ready to ride...but...here you go...more gratuitous bike pics...

Love the lugwork here...

The Issue with this one...

Not usually a fan of black...but I think this looks good...

Beautiful bike.
Kind of a bad spot for your "issue", though.
Is it possible to repair that?

To repair it, I think I would need to replace the tube...and then...there goes the originality...so..."rock and a hard place" type thing...it will, most likely, not be ridden a lot...more just part of the overall Schwinn collection...and...I continue to look for another...without the issue...

Thanks for both the information and the compliment...

Question on the blocks...how do you use them? The thread really does not describe what to do to work on the dent...

+ lots of grease. Rotate them back and forth to work out the dent. You will lose some paint. There are online tutorials on using them.

No need to rotate the blocks when they are clamped. You can try leaving them on for a day, release and rotate, and clamp again.

There is absolutely no need to 'massage' the frame with blocks. The only thing that accomplishes is paint loss. Been there, both ways.

A beautiful bicycle.

I'm having hard time grasping the Schwinn marketing logic in naming something "Volare" in 1977 (it was new that year), the year after Plymouth introduced its "Volare". With genuine Corinthian leather.

Looking forward to this - I have considered doing the same for a few minor TT dents.

I'm looking forward to seeing your results!!!

Is the saddle "the thickly-cushioned luxury of seats available even in soft Corinthian leather"?

My grandparents had a Volare station wagon. What I remember about the car is that it had little indicators on either side of the hood that would blink with your directional.

The Aspen/Volare were the Motor Trend Car of the Year in 1976.

...With genuine Corinthian leather.
You're thinking of the Chrysler Cordoba.
