The last two look like you can eat off of 'em. Nice and pretty, but I doubt they are your daily commuter bikes, eh @ScottRyder and @sloar? Mine probably looks more like @tyler_fred's chain.

It's my daily rider, it's just a brand new chain!

I became a disciple of the wax method a few years ago, about the time quick connectors became reliable. This is the worst recent chain picture I could find, I took this shortly after finishing a 40 mile road race in driving rain last spring.

I seriously need this chain (Well not specifically your chain though. lol) for the frame I'm building. The group set I'm using is black and gold and this would be the cherry on the top. What model Everest chain is this?

It's an Everest "Special." I used it on my Colnago, and it worked great, but the non-Everest quicklink I stupidly chose to use failed like a Yugo halfway through the 2013 L'Eroica. They pop up on the 'Bay all the time:

Vintage 70's Everest Special Oro 1 2 inch 3 32 114 Links Very RARE | eBay

If you snag an NOS one they come packed in something like cosmoline. The only good way I found to remove it was using a coat hanger to dunk the entire chain into my motorcycle's gas tank. Nothing else weaker would cut that stuff.

Thanks! It's on my watch list. I was looking for something similar from KMC since it's a Japan group or maybe a matching Suntour Superbe chain with gold and black plates or just gold.

Here's a photo of my chain, about halfway through L'Eroica 2015. I daresay that there was probably not a molecule of lubricant left in that chain at that point in the ride, hence the nasty squeaking noises from the drivetrain of my bike and everybody else's bike.

Back in the 70's, I bought a length of bulk chain. Never used it and now it sits in the bottom of my parts bin:

with this:

and this
or is this the same as the first?

and this

Not to mention the ones on the bikes!

Why strip it ? just use it as-is until it needs to be relubed. Wipe off the excess with a rag first.

Certainly an option, but I like to use Rock n Roll, which works better with an oil free surface to adhere the teflon between the rollers and pins. Much easier done with the chain off-bike.

Here are two cleanish ones. I just noticed how clean the chain on my wife's bike is. Put's me to shame. As usual.
