I could find no serial number on the underside of the hub......however I did find two small diameter holes that must either be places to put lube or they are "weep holes" that let moisture out? Can't think of any other purpose......there are 36 spokes on the rims......thanks for the info!!!
i guess hub is the wrong term-----the crank area where the pedals are is the place where I found the two small holes that must have some purpose....and I'm also getting ready to pull off the pedals to clean up the beautiful chrome.....but my bike shop guy cautioned me to very careful with the nut that is on the end of the cotter that holds the pedal on because it is very easily stripped and virtually impossible to find/replace....So I'm proceeding very carefully there.

I worked very hard on the bike today....was
able to remove cotter pins in the lower bracket with a minimum of trouble. Quite exciting to know I will always have access to
the lower bracket for maintenance . Very important for the future of the bike. I have taken a series of eight pictures on my iPhone 6 with the Photobucket Mobile app......but have had no luck figuring out how to get them on the forum.....I'm trying to get pics up guys, any help appreciated......

For future reference, the safest way to remove a cotter pin is to remove the cotter nut and washer, reinstall the cotter nut just far enough so the top of the nut is flush with the end of the cotter, and then tap/hammer the cotter and nut until the cotter pin is free.

Good morning to all,
here are some pictures of the Le Jeune in various stages of disarray as I am starting to put the bike back together after the initial cleaning, investigating overall cosmetic and mechanical condition. I think the bike is in great condition for its age. At this point I plan to keep the bike in original condition because everything seems to work well. I am a neophyte at this bike restoration/ maintenance stuff. I'll post more pics when all back together and ready for the test run. Thanks for all comments and help .

Does anyone know what the type of handlebar wrap I want, in white, that is a little thicker than the thin wraps that are more common? I think I would just like the feel of that better since I often ride with hands up on the flat part of the handlebars?
thanks,
The Rsterman
