I never seemed to remember a culture war going on at the ones in Greensboro. 'Cept maybe against the Fixie ( as opposed to the fixed gear ) crowd.
Lots of great info, classic bikes of all types to look at and an abundance of parts to finally finish that long waited project. Or a frame to start another one.
Great riding in the area led to pleasant group outings. Fantastic chance to meet people from all over the place. I was lucky at the time to live 45 min away by car or little longer by bike.
spent time putting up tables and chairs then cleaning the place up when everybody left. Running the ticket entrance booth also.
Fun times so I hope I can stand another trip in a car to get there !

You can probably even put your bike in the show. You won't win any awards though. But then again, neither will I. Someone will have a better bike than mine, guaranteed.

We spent more time looking for an elementary school for the boys than we did on our college searches for ourselves.
Not one day passes at our house without a conversation about what the future may hold for the boys.
Loads of hand wringing, laughter, tears, love, sports, homework and planning around here when it comes to them.

Renting a van sounds better than a $260 train ticket to me (if I read that right), it'd be nice to have that wad of cash available at the event. Though the train does have its advantages. I suppose most of it depends on how many end up going. Either way I'm in at this point.

It should still be held at the Lewis rec center. Big gym and rooms off to the sides. Big parking lot out back by the tennis courts.
Greenway runs right by this center.
Direct access to Battleground ave for food and such. If you want to visit all the bike shops, turn left after getting to Battleground then about one mile start looking. There's got to be at least 4 still
Higgins...old Schwinn plus used bikes plus parts. Owner kinda tricky with attitude.
Cycles De Oro... Vintage HQ plus modern
Performance... You know
Trek... Modern CF all the way

Cruising out Battleground. You can get good food, yuppie food, or grunge food. Or a tattoo, or a new bike.
There are hotels right there on Battleground that are not bad at all. I timed/scored 3 5K's in that area.
There is some nice riding, as Battleground picks up into rurality not far away.

Rationally, of course you are right. But we somehow manage to keep our respective ages in mind anyway. Does it matter that member x is a year younger than I, and member y is a year older? No, not at all. So can we forget these useless facts? No, evidently not.

Apology for that C du M. It was just my lack of using American 'political correctness' these days and not to offend anyone. Also admit to poorly using terms in communicating online. I have to be careful as well in using acronym's according to the 'CR' quartermaster. Seriously, in that regards I received a personal message after one time posting an ISO item.
BTW: The term 'Old Timer' kind of sticks with me. The 'Old Timer' auto and motorcycle event at Nurburgring is something any gearhead (oops... can I say that?) should see. Anyways it just flows along with my other liking of old tools, machinery, bicycles and yes also hanging with old guys.
Looking forward to meeting all. Cheer's~

I went the last time they did it in Leesburg, VA. I just went for the last day, which was the bike show and swap meet. I sold a few saddles, had a good time meeting people, and tried very hard not to buy anything. In the end someone persuaded me to pay $50 for a Campy NR headset that came with a frame and fork -- an undrewed Holdsworth 531 Special in desperate need of paint.
I guess it was a pretty good purchase....

Me and the family will be there on Sat and Sunday. We will park ourselves at the Motel 6 and divide my time between them and the CR events.
Can't wait!

Holy crap am I underprepared! Only 2wks left, I see many late nights in my very near future.
Just fwiw for those on the fence, especially those who have any concerns, I'll just say that these events are nothing but fun. For somebody like me, usually the only steel rider in a club ride at home, to hang for 2-3 days with like-minded folks, surrounded by old/new classics, is a blast. I've only been to the Leesburg/Wayne Bingham Cirques, but Dale's fingerprint is large and I'm sure the vibes are the same.
Visit the Battleground Hotel and there'll be bikes in the lobby, bikes in the hallways, bikes in folks' rooms. You'll see a bike-boom PX10 leaning against a Baylis Wizard, a Raleigh Pro next to a Chris Bishop, and it's all good. You may spot a Singer, Herse, Weigle and Chapman, separated by an ocean and decades but from the same family, all a stone's-throw apart. Some young turk builders will be there, and if you haven't seen a Bishop or Chapman or Coast up close or personal, you oughta. There are young guys building frames today that are second to nothing, who've absorbed what makes a "classic" classic, while still being modern.
We'll also have some old-timers there, framebuilders Mike Barry & son, Peter Johnson, Dave Moulton and Jamie Swan are coming; Peter Gilbert from the part/components side. You're not going to find people like this all togther in one place outside of NAHBS.
You don't have to take a bike to show and there's no pre-'84 cutoff for anything you take or ride---the KOF category is very wide. I suppose you'll get funny looks if you show up with a modern CF or fat-tube aluminum machine, steel is definitely the focus. But unless you really want to show a bike to win a prize, you don't have to worry about whether your bike is period-correct or catalog-perfect. I feel like I'm taking frames that happen to have parts on them. I don't worry about the parts too much because I'm not looking to win prizes, and there isn't a lot of period-correct in my stable.
So if you're worried about snobbishness or cliques, don't. If you're worried about fitting in or having too much fun, don't
Disclaimer: I will be there selling/displaying C&V/KOF stuff, hopefully to turn a profit, and to prove to wifey that I'm not really a hoarder.

I hope to meet as many BF members as I can. That will be one of the good memories I will take back home.
looking forward to it!
PS; after much fuss, I have decided to take my 91 Bianchi Eros. You remember, it was Noglider's old bike project.Set up with a 1X6 with a climbing FW in the back. If you see an all white bike covered in reflector tape say hi.

I'm going sunday, bringing 2 Mcleans and a green colnago super to show. Don't have much to sell but I will probably buy some stuff. Holler at me, I will be wearing a white VAR tools t-shirt! Here's the colnago -

Handsome Colnago. I have to adjust to a Brooks and dark anodized rims on that era of bike, but nice.
I will ride one of mine this weekend in tribute, on the West Coast, but so it goes.

Cool! One of the Mcleans I'm bringing is a perfect pleasure model, the other is a racing model. I think there will be a Mclean section there. Also I have a brown suede unicanitor for my colnago to make it a little more presentable.
