Garin rumours not true!!

I'm posting this just in case you:

See an ad for an old French Garin bicycle that LOOKS like it's been through world war 2 in the fuzzy Craigslist picture. And also in case you do a Google search which leads you to believe that Garins were only made in the 40s and 50s and then rush off into the night. This might lead you into buying the bike even after you see it and realize it's a bike boom POS, because you feel sorry for the owner because he is so enthusiastic about the POS. So just in case you ever get confused: Garin bicycles were still making bikes, albeit junky ones, well into the 70's. With kick-stand mounts, no less!

...and for your your amusement:here is the Garin in question (c-list pic) which led to the debacle. It now resides in my kitchen.

PS: YES I saw the steel rims, turkey levers etc. but I was under the spell of the idea that it was a 1950's frame that had been "upgraded" in the 70's. The upgraded part was true because it looks as though the original simplex gear was switched out for Shimano Tourney equipment that seems to have been made of cast iron.
