Odd "Shimano" bike in the buy and sell

Shimano Dynamic | road | Markham / York Region | Kijiji

Too small for me and quite a hike to take a look but I'd be interested to see this. At $200 Cdn, not a bad price specially assuming he'd come down $25 or 50.
Looks to be all 600 other than the 105 shifters.

My guess is that it was some sort of show bike to show off the Aero group. Maybe a custom build or one-off.

Always wanted one of the early eighties aero frames... and in chrome. Double love bonus there.

It's not easy to tell from the photos. I don't see any aero shapped tubing. Also, most frames made for the aero groups used special braze on's for those groups.
I tend to think it is a standard frame with some nice decals added.

I was trying to look for aero section tubing on the frame too, but I cannot tell from the pics if it did have it....

definitely not a frame made for the early 1980s Shimano Aero AX groupsetsd nor are those components aero. The Adamas AX, the 600 AX and the Dura Ace AX all used aero brake levers and a Delta type centerpull aero brake caliper. The 600 AX and Dura Ace AX often mounted the downtube shifters on the top of the downtube. The Dynadrive pedals on the 600 AX and Dura Ace AX cranks had a short pedal spindle and the pedal body was below the spindle. Those pedals had a ONE INCH spindle and the cranks had 1" eyes. The hub flanges were thicker with half the spoke holes recessed.

The frames those groupsets went on had aero tubing that was teardrop shaped.

Cheers

Recommend you check the weight on this bike/ I used to see some bikes with this type of decals in Europe and they were quite heavy, like maybe hi-ten level of weight?

Shimano never really made frames. The one frame they did make was a bike for the Emperor of Japan and that bike now sits in the Bicycle Museum Sekai City, Japan. I thought I took a photo of it but couldn't find it. Other than that they just contract out, like this one also on display at the Museum though this one uses the Dura Ace groupset. Notice the aero tubing to highlight the group.

This information was obtained from one of the curators of the museum, which is funded by Shimano, who's headquarters in nearby.
