this bike and thread have attracted attention and discussion in the CR List (Google Groups) and rightly so, most who see it are impressed. The deal with the "dimpling" or creases in the back of the fork blades was a feature that Picchio developed to make his frames that much more distinctive from the competition. The USA importer (Lewis) mentions the "feature" in their catalog/adverts of the era and says they supposedly offer "stiffness without compromising ride comfort" or some such blurb. Comments from the CR intelligentsia, including none other that Richard (e-Richie) Sachs (who had some personal contact with Picchio back in the past) is that this is nothing but hype...but stylish hype...

Thanks for this information unworthy 1.
If I can provide any more pics or information to document this bike my pleasure. I will look into the CR list more closely. I was glad to have their brief overview on Picchio prior to my purchase.

The have that sort of arabesque heart shape in the seat lug & lower head lug that was pretty unique. Wonderful bikes!
His decal design may be my all time favorite:

I don't remember the member...butni'm helped another Picchio owner with decal close ups and dimensions. If the OP is interested I'll try and fish the info out.

That was me Aaron. Thanks again.

I considered commissioning reproductions of the seat tube and down tube decals. It was cost prohibitive. I did get the head badge decal reproduced.

For now I really like the minimal look of my Picchio. For me the gray lends itself to this treatment.

But if someone from Torino happened to offer me a set they would be on ASAP.
