How to spell 'Raleigh'

I've seen errors before, and I don't want to be a nitpicker, but this case of 'extreme spelling' caught my attention. How many mistakes can one make in a seven-letter word?

Sorry, 'zonder fietstassen' means 'without panniers'. You do get an extra lock, though. With your Railley.

You don't need to read Dutch, as every citizen of the Netherlands I've ever met spoke and wrote better English than I do. But then again, I come from New York....

If only we hadn't sold that to the Brits BITD, we wouldn't be having this discussion. Not in English, anyway ...

Forgive me but I can say some words but can't spell them. So phonetically...

"Stommert, dik suk"

A long time ago, in a galaxy far away I was married to a girl from Amsterdam. Lovely culture. And the bikes there are "hart sticka leowke"

Dooey.

Story I heard was that it was intentional- something about getting around import taxes or something like that.
@Scooper or @Metacortex would know more.

I believe it was simply the "Palmer" cursive font style used at that time that made it look strange: schNinn
