Somehow this bike became my favorite to ride, a low-level frame with components that are worth much more than the frame they're on. Nothing is original except the brakes. Suntour Cyclone drive train with 14-28 7 speed in the rear and a long cage derailleur, 28mm tires, a nice set of black fenders (not pictured) No racks for me.

I suppose maybe the Super Tourer is more in keeping with the thread as far as set up, but I've since gotten the Jubilee derailleurs and I don't want to ride it too much anymore. 32mm tires, MAFAC racers, 6 speed 14-28, Atom touring pedals, randdoneur bar. Originally would have had black or white Bluemels, but I don't think I'll ever be able to afford to replace those.

TA rack, Kirtland bag, alloy fenders. I have some Weinmann 650B rims and 42cm tires, and might convert this later on.

I no longer have this bike—I liked the concept but it’s too heavy for me.

It's funny how a lot of old racing bikes are pretty similar to sports touring bikes with longer reach brakes and eyelets. I really like old motos; this is a great bike.

@bikemig @Standalone - You guys both need to get ahold of me if you make it out to the Olympic Peninsula. I run the cheapest hotel in Port Angeles, and it's not horrible, I promise!

Meanwhile, here are some of the sport touring bikes you might be riding alongside you as I show around the place:

Trek 600 Series

Univega Nuovo Sport

Bianchi Limited

Apollo Prestige (fake Legnano)

That is a fine sports touring fleet. Talk about some great looking background for the pics of your bikes on the Olympic Peninsula. Living in Iowa, mine usually get shot with a cornfield in the background, .

You may know this road, then!

And here, our bikes in cold storage awaiting our return to Carlsborg!

... if my Brother-in-Law who's crashing there hasn't sold them...!
That thick slick tire is from the bike shop in PA near your Hotel!

I may have stayed in a cheaper one (some little efficiency motel near Swain's) when I hitch-hiked down around the peninsula and hiked back solo over the Olympics up the Quinault, across Low Divide, and down the Elwha. 50 miles sure will make Dungeness Crab taste even better upon return to civilization! Your place downtown is nice - great vibe.

It is a re-finish. The frame was very neglected and needed a new finish to bring it back. Since I have two sport/touring bikes now this has been re-done again into a grocery getter.

My 71 Peugeot PX10E! 95% all French. In it's day the wheel base (100cm) and angles (72 degrees rear, front 74 degrees) were considered road racing (even with pannier eyelets), very comfortable, nimble and stable. With today's standards the Peugeot PX10E would not be classed as a road bike, but it several Euro tours it was a badger.

1986 Schwinn Le Tour, made in the Greenville, Mississippi factory. Between the price of the bike and the cost to restore it I have less than $200 in it. 27x1 1/4 Pasela's and still have plenty of room left. I have another set of Malliard hubs that I'm going to lace up with 700c rims and Jack Brown 33.3's.

I just bought this: a Peugeot PA60 frame. They don't come along very often and this one is not only in my preferred size for touring (French fit), but it seems to be in decent nick as well. I have high expectations of the ride quality and look forward to the build.

So what does a French fit leave you showing seat post wise?

Chainsuck destroyed the derailleur hanger on my Le Tour beyond repair. I then picked up this '86 Univega Nuovo Sport and restored it. It has Light Action components which work fine but I'm in the process of collecting 6200 series parts for it. A wonderful ride.

That's a great looking bike. Are those Panaracer tires? There's nothing quite like the ride of a road bike with plush tires; the bike just eats up the miles in style.

Yeah 1 1/4 Paselas. I ride a lot of rutted chipseal roads and they just glide over them. I actually like 27's better than 700c now.

Now if someone told me I could pick out one bike and have that be my only bike forever it would be an '83 Trek 640.
