No, I am not selling my Cinelli, and I did not buy (or sell) the one you saw on eBay in Oakland. Mine is a 60cm Speciale Corsa from the mid-70s, the one on the 'Bay is a 64.5cm Model B from (probably) sometime in the late 60s. Gorgeous looking bike, though. And that crankset sure looks familiar . . . .

See you at Eroica Ca 2017!
I am planning on attending Eroica 2017. I just acquired a 1973 Windsor Profesional (actual spelling!). This bike came with its original equipment except for the hubs which were changed out in the late 70's for Phil Woods and a Brooks saddle . It was raced all through the early years of its existence and has a wonderful feel to it. The Cinelli look is fantastic and rides like a thoroughbred!

Reg for 2017 with interesting changes

REGISTRATION. EROICA CALIFORNIA | PASO ROBLES CA | 7-9 APRIL 2017

To ride Eroica California, you must have a steel-frame bike of vintage look and feel. Preferably a bike from 1987 or before. The steadfast requirements are as follows:
1) Steel frame bikes; lugged or fillet-brazed**
2) New for 2017, we will allow the Aero-brake levers, they must NOT include the built in shifters.
3) Traditional toe clips or straps. Cleats are no required, clip-less pedals are NOT permitted.
4) Vintage-style apparel; wool kits are encouraged, but not required.
5) No indexed friction shifters are allowed, including Down Tube, Bar-End and Stem mounted shifters.
** The following 1987 or earlier non-steel frames are permited at Eroica events: Exxon Graftek,Allen Carbonio and Alumino, Teledyne Titan, Vitus Aluminum & early carbon/aluminum lugged frames.

I can't believe those ******* are allowing aero levers now. Oh, was that a complaint? Anyway, I'm going to ride it next year. Non-aero levers but a stealth compact crank.............

Awww, I did love all the non-aero levers, but allowing them makes a considerable amount of sense to me since they specify 1987 or earlier. Nearly all my 86 and 87 bikes came with aero levers, though for the last Eroica I swapped out the now legal aero levers to non-aero ones because the event is worth the "headache", in my opinion.

I believe sir, that will be a one-way ticket to hell.

You should come to a midwest ride. Borrow one of my bikes. No rules. We're classy like that.

Depending on how The Zoli does at Cino, I may return to Paso Robles in 2017.

I'm going in the wrong direction with this anyway, but would my 1987 Bianchi have been acceptable, given that I had the frame replaced in 1989? (It still has (non-indexed) friction shifters, for example.)

I like that crank, sans (sanded) logo…

Might make it next year. Bummer it is just before tax day again…
No idea what I will ride, probably one bike if its wet and a different one if it's dry.

Not answering to your question, but would like to let everyone know that we will improve again in 2017.
Our registration will open at 6am (CA time) on the 15th of September.
Hope to see you there.

Glad to hear that you intend to improve on the food; in my opinion the rest stops in 2016 were not up to either the hype or expectation.

Take a lesson from Cino Heroica and go completely overboard.

And make sure there is ice available separately at each stop for riders who fill their bottles with ice before they add liquids.

There will be pins showing on the other side. They help pickup the chain from the small ring to the large ring.

They are a pain in my ass, that's what they are. But DE rigor on modern rings. Always hard to deign around for drilling and milling as they are never symmetrical to the layout of the ring.

Whew. That definitely did not look Otis-like.

Modern rings with chain pick up studs? Guess I've never seen one.

It's an IRD crank that I re-work the arms and rings.

I just registered and am super excited!

I second the vote for better food this year... Last year was a bit of a disappointment on the short route, since all we got were bananas and frozen fries. I was hoping for some prosciutto and burrata! But the wine was fantastic.

FYI, the Farmhouse Motel is a great place to stay. Great rates and nice clean rooms. I stayed at the Adelaide Inn last year and was disappointed with the location and prices. The Hotel Cheval is amazing but is very, very expensive... probably the best in town. Hope to see lots of people there this year! It's a wonderful event...

FYI,
We sent out a survey to our participants after the event and 87% of people who return the survey were satisfied with our food and food stops. But we are not happy unless it's 90% or better. So we will try to improve again. We are aiming for 90% or better since it is impossible to satisfy everyone.
Also please remember, this is Eroica, not a modern day GranFondo.
We will eliminate the energy bars in 2017 and there won't be any ice at at the rest stops. Back to the roots as how it is done in Italy for the part 20 years.. We invite all of you to come ride the home event in Italy one day if you haven't done so.
We have 7000 registered riders this year and it's our 20th anniversary year. 1500 more than last year's event.

The smaller events like Cino Rider (they are fazing out the name "Heroica" as you can see from their web address name change) can afford to give more food and attention to their particiapants. Much easier to prepare the food and more staff is available per participant because less participants. So it won't be a good example for us.
We look our patent event in Italy for more inspiration and guidances as it is the most successful and popular vintage cycling event in the world.

Again we would like to ask all of you to send your opinion(s) and suggestions directly to info@eroicacalifornia.com.
Thank you.

I think it's very well done, the current production original I find very heavy looking, the refinement is subtle.
Campagnolo needs to do a Nuovo Record aesthetic silver group. Meanwhile, thank goodness the silver Potenza now has silver chainrings.

Am I mistaken that the big ring on that setup, with the four "stud" holes, or whatever they are, are not Campagnolo?
Or maybe from a modern Campy group? Which I'm unfamiliar with.

I like the crank iteself.
