All I see are minor style violations...
1. large, modern water bottle
2. should use 3 brake cable clips instead of 2.
3. crank arms not aligned with seat tube.
4. not enough fork rake??
Seems like a bike very much in the spirit of Eroica.

Please. You know damn well your bike is in the spirit of the event. The cantilever rule was to rule out cyclocross bikes that were common early on. Have you bothered to send someone a picture and ask if it would be OK before assuming it wouldn't and using it as a reason to be a hater?
But I think that's not the point. My bike is compliant only by coincidence. I don't have to break the rules to hang with the guys who flaunt them. I mean... rules? Pffft. Why should I care if they come up with a rule that tells me this is the way I should walk? I was walking this way before they made up a rule about it.

I'm a real rebel! Out and about Pfffffffffffffffffing with @BluesDaddy!
Riding an 'Eroica qualified '83 Paramount frameset--- but sheeeeeeeesh it's clothed in early '90s Shimano 105!
Well, at least it is running down tube shifters in the friction setting and tubular tires (even if they do have that Gator skin hide)!
@Wildwood, well, it's just obvious you are not a Hard Man! No 'Eroica for you while you Pfffffffffff!

Cork bar tape
Plastic bar plugs
Puke colored reproduction brake hoods (real ones from the early 70's are darker)
Ugly D2R2 bottle
Modern bottle cage
Titanium Brooks seat (correct ones have chrome rails)
Machined brake tracts (i.e., modern rims)
Japanese modern chain/freewheel (admittedly hard to see)
BUT THE MOST HORRIBLE OF ALL.................50th Anniversary Pedals (gold dust caps) on an early 70's bike!
Fortunately you can't see the wrong brake housing, and mismatched locknut date codes.
Darn, I was just fortunate they were busy dragging some sad poser out of the line for having shifter cables without a stamped <C> on them while I slipped through.

Regarding toe clips, MKS makes a deep model. I wear a 11.5 shoe and their large is the right size for me. I mistakenly ordered a size LL the first time. Way too big. If someone wants them, PM me. Otherwise, they will just sit in the box of parts they are in and never see the light of day.
Back to the thread, do the allen headed crank bolts with built in dust caps get accepted? If not, then Pfffffffffffft! Those are one of the greatest things ever to come along in cycling. If you have ever had to make a repair in the field you will know what I am talking about. The chain tool bolt on a Park IB3 Multi Tool fits perfectly.

Speaking of BluesDaddy, how's/what's he doing these days? Haven't seen his name in BF for a while.

Are we done Pfffffffffffing already? Come now good non-'Eroica C&V riders. Can't we show a few more rule breakers? It's winter after all, and for some of us the ridding can be limited. Dig through those photos and throw something down!
Here's another in my collection. Isn't there a 1987 cutoff? I always thought that was sort of arbitrary. For example I give you my '88 Cannondale ST400. Here is how it looked in the CL ad several years ago.
6 speed freewheel, double crankset, friction down tube shifters, non aero brake levers. Full 'Erioca compliance except year of manufacture.
Here it is as my winter rider all these years later.
8 speed HG cassette, Cannondale cranks with 9/10 speed rings, Shimano friction barend shifters, Shimano Deore/Tourney RD & FD, Paul Racer brakes, Tektro Aero brake levers. Also, all the white cables are all old school, non-lined housings.
I even ran @mtnbke 's Joe's RD on it for a time before the winter salt applications began!
BTW, the modern 9 speed Deore shifts better.
