Mark, I appreciate the help. I am hoping it comes together nice in the final stages and will find some special rides for it, I am sure! There is a place in Tempe I have been wanting to check out called Pedal Haus, a bar/brewery that revolves around what else...bikes! It'll give me a reason to ride Mill Ave.

I thought I would just put up a couple other pics I had not shown. Pedals, bars and stem. Also, the front axle, it had the butterfly nuts but the ends are broken off . I may use for now, I really didn't want to change anything original but I may check Ebay if they look off or I can't get tight enough.

Those wing-nuts are all "broken" in exactly the same way.....are you sure that wasn't how they came? Pedals came out nicely as well.

I thought that same thing when I looked at, maybe one broke, so someone broke the rest to match? The pics don't show, but edges are pretty jagged.

Thank you for the additional imagini. Had been just ready to ask regarding Peppino's pedali.

They be Sheffield Corsa model 655. Have always thought of these as "pedali di ballerina" due to the narrow opening betwixt the inboard and outboard spurs. Made me think Italian riders must have very narrow feets.

Our Peter_B states that this pattern is a Gripfast one.

Regarding handlebar wrap and cable casing - recall these as coming through with a ribbed white plastic handlebar wrap regardless of bicycle colour. A silver-grey cable casing was used, also regardless of the machine's finish.

Olmo had gumwall tyres with their name moulded into the sidewall. Do not know who the manufacturer was. Still have one hanging in me tyre rack. Expect it must be pretty brittle with age!

Still waiting on cotter crank pin. I get the cheap stuff from china faster than this is coming. Brown cloth bar tape on, wheels cleaned up pretty good. Guy that had must have been planning to restore for some time, tires look new(er) but have some sidewall discoloration. Oh well it's old and they are not rotted so I'll call it tire patina.

Also dug through my stuff and have a spare 14/26 to go on. Hopefully the cruddy one comes off without issue. I cut some fraying off the end of the shifter cable, oops. Made it too short and will change that.

Thanks, it should come out nicer than I thought it would when I picked up. Hopefully be done by the end of the week and will do a bunch of close ups. Forgot to mention markk990 has graciously dropped the proper pump cup in the mail and it should also arrive soon.

On another note, I need a skip tooth (inch pitch) cog for the rear of another bike. I can't seem to post in sales as WTB? Not enough posts or maybe I missing how to do. Italian thread 8 tooth is what I am looking for, but one up or down would get it on the road for now

Not 100 but done! Still need the brake pads, change freewheel and minimal adjusting but wanted to get this up. Kinda looks like two bikes, Sun side, Shade side.

Thanks to Markk900 for the pump cup! I moved things around a few times and decided it best under the TT. I tried a Silca with the campy legs and it fit fine even with the eyelets. I also tried to highlight some of the faded paint shadows by moving parts up or down a bit.

Of course my wife thinks the brown bar tape is ugly and boring, but I think it fits well. Forgot to mention size, 23" or 59cm (c2t) and right in my mid range. Took a test spin, and think I will be riding this more often that I anticipated.

Now that's how you restore a bike! Here's my answer as to why one should avoid repainting a bike whenever possible. Amazing result. Congrats on a superb job. I'm sitting on the fence between you and your wife when it comes to the bar tape, but it looks great as is regardless. I'd be tempted to use a tricolour Italian flag Benotto tape on that one.

I have Galli, Christophe and Ale that I am not using, which of those do you think best fit?

She does have really great decor sense, people tell her that often. I stuck to my guns on this one with her though.

It does that, my wife had me second guessing, but once finished I do like it. Seems to fit since things are aged overall. Who knows, may try something new in the future.

Beautiful work Bikerider, really top-notch. You cleaned it up but resisted the urge to make it "new", and the result is stunning. The only thing I would ask is for more pics!

Galli too late. Christophe may be period correct but wrong origin. I would go with Allara (Al-E), if early enough. They have the fringe benefit of an interesting logo.

btw - delighted to report that your original header is now all wrong. she is not "wall art" but a real rider.

No prob, my new phone camera kinda sucks though. It's tough to get clear, have to work on that.

Very true, glad to be wrong.

At first a bit squirrely, stem was not straight, and I had to tighten a couple things and make a couple adjustments. The 27's felt different too. Second outing was great but did not trust the brakes so I did not go too far. I am going out of town in the morning so I wanted to finish up before I left. Hope to put some time in when I get back and finish up the details. I do not see this bike the same, I don't think I expected much out of it to begin with. Am pleased without a doubt.

I would not trust the brakes either.
The front shows at least one block holder facing the wrong way, ready to expell a block upon hard braking.
The cleaning and polishing effort on the components shows very well.

Good eye! I thought someone might mention the rear brake cable housing I cut too short. :-)

Will put the kool stops on and clean up the details in the next week or so, was a fun low cost project!

Thanks very much markk900! Actually it is item nr. 376/S "ORTELLI." Item nr. 376 is the set including the holder for the pump head. Curiously enough, the set is also referred to by the manufacturer as "ORTELLI."

This is a beautiful bike; great work too. There are a lot of similarities between this and my 1960 olmo gran sport which I just finished rebuilding.

Do you know the year of your bike? Mine is probably a 1960-61 and has Falck tubing as well as campy drop outs. My guess is that it's one model above yours. I have magistroni cranks, sheffield pedals, and gran sport derailleurs as well. My front gran sport didn't survive the rebuild though and I replaced it with a nuovo gran sport. I'm replaced the tubulars with old school clinchers (record hi flange hubs, milremo alloy rims).

Impressive bicycle and just the sort of thing that I love to do these days.

I have my Grail bikes, you know the one's I most enjoy riding. But I still love the hunt, the find, the build, the the display (until something more interesting comes along) and finally, finding a new home where the bicycle will be appreciated, be it on the road or on the wall.

Needless to say, I am not in the "bicycles are made to be ridden" camp. I get just as much pleasure, or fun, or entertainment, or whatever, looking at my all chrome Torpado as I do riding my lugged steel and carbon fiber Cyclops.

But that is just me.
