New to Me 1992 Cannondale R600

I've been looking to get into Road Cycling for a while. Never pulled the trigger on a bike. This is my first road bike. Was on CL and found this Cannondale R600 , 58cm aluminum frame, shimano 105 components, brevettato handle bars. Was able to get it for 200 dollars. It was just recently serviced. Hope it was a good deal. Let me know if I over paid. Frame looks to be in great shape. Some paint chips here and there but overall great bike. Rides really smooth.

I'm very excited to start riding. Anything to know about this bike or things to know for a new road bike rider.

Pictures should be from the drive side so we can see the crank and derailleurs.
Have you measured the frame - looks smaller than 58 to me but it might be the big Cannondale tubes throwing me off.
Great price for a nice looking bike. That bike would go for at least twice that amount if not three times around here.

Looks like 52 cm. Measured center to center.

Front wheel is backwards, quick release should be on left side.

Nice bike. Worth $400 if components are okay.

Sorry I'll post up a picture of the other side showing the crank and derailleurs. I'm 6'1 and when I stand up I have about an inch of room from the horizontal tube frame. I'll measure when I get home.

Sorry I put the Front wheel on backwards after I got home. Thanks for the heads up. I appreciate it.

Nice find at a nice price. I saw that but C'dales are not on my list.

If that seat is the right height for you then I'd say the size looks OK.

I just saw the saddle calculator. Going to make sure my seat is in the correct position.

Beautiful bike, judging from the picture. I'd be pleased if I got it for that price.

Cannondale has always used a highly rational serial numbering system, by the way. You can find out many details about the production of your bike by looking up the serial number on one of several websites.

Thanks and glad it was a good price. Looking forward to enjoying it in the DC Metro area.

I really appreciate the serial number system heads up. I'm going to check this out when I get home.

Nice find - hope you enjoy it. I paid twice that for the '90 model a couple steps up from that one some years ago. Since then I've put over 100,000 miles on it and it's still my favorite bike. Only change I've made is to get some lower gears than it had originally. Our area has some pretty challenging hills (at least for me) for the close ratio gears it had initially.

Look at www.vintagecanondale.com for S/N data.

If you don't have these items already you'll need tire repair items, a pump, and a seat bag to carry the repair items. Ride it to sort how well it fits and have fun.

I have an '88 Criterium Series I built for speed. You will love the way they handle. These have rocket-like acceleration. Enjoy!

Very nice score, I had a '91 SR300, for racing criteriums, that I absolutely loved. +1 on using Vintage Cannondale for dating through the serial number, and for general information. Those catalog .pdf are nice to read through. Enjoy that R600, they are great bikes, IMHO.

For you Cannondale guys, it's a 3.0, but has 2.8 style chainstays - no dimples.
I was wondering why mine had a dark violet fade, while yours showed blue - but notice the photo of mine makes it look blue, too.
I see what you mean by the dark violet fade while mine showed blue. Maybe it's the camera or light? Your bike looks great too. Nice pick up.

Yours cleaned up really nicely. I need to get a saddle bag but don't want one at the same time. The bike looks so clean without one.

Looks like i'll be going saddle shopping this weekend. You both make good points.
