How many clicks in a Suntour power shifter
Due to medical issues, I've not been able to ride a bike since February 2. In two weeks I can get back in the saddle again; so I have been keeping busy with other important stuff like polishing ball bearings and scrubbing old tires. So today I ran out of important stuff and decided to count the clicks in a set of Suntour down tube power shifters.
The right shifter clicks 31 times through its range, but the left shifter clicks 32 times. This was so disconcerting to me that I am contemplating measuring the the cable pull of all of the friction shifters on all of my bikes. Then I noticed that the 28mm front tire on my Trek 420 was actually 30mm. Should I contact Continental about this discrepancy, or perhaps my caliper is not accurate.
Come to think of it, one of the spoke nipples on the Nishiki looks to be a bit longer than the others...

I just overhauled a pair of very old pedals from 1960 (sheffield sprint); 24 1/8 ball bearings fell out but it took me a while to figure out that 13 go inboard and 11 out board to make those pedals work.

That would all depend on the derailleurs (and crankset/freewheels/freehubs) in question. The stops would be set differently!!!
Normal freewheel spacing or ultra? How many gears out back? Double or triple crankset?
I've never counted the clicks for the 'full range' with mine. On my bikes, I have 6-spd ultra and normal 5 out back, double and triple front.
Just SHIFT (and trim) the damned thing and don't worry about the number of clicks! That's what is so great about 'friction' shifting!!! It can adapt!!!!

Great example of 'parked bike syndrome' (PBS). I like your numbers, I find my bar cons are about 2 1/2 clicks per gear on a 7 speed Shimano setup. Thats in your ball park. Boredom is a drag wot? Better measure those nipples before it drives you insane.

I'd have to go check on that, but for my Suntour thumbies, it's 5 clicks for 6 gears. Ya had me fer a minute there tho.

I got some old HTI platform pedals not too long ago, that rock. I don't think they can be serviced very easily, but they really don't "need" it, they're extremely smooth.

How many angels can fit on the head of a pin?
You must be bored after 6 months of not riding.
I know the feeling... I was laid up for 6 months in 2011-2012. I dreamt I was riding in my favorite locations.
