Help for Legnano models

Hi,
I'm new of the forum,
I' have recently aquired this legnano, but I do not understand what' s the model (I think that it's a Roma Olimpiade but I m not sure..different seatube lugs) and the year of the bicycle.
In particular on the ride side of the seat tube there is a number: FD2868? (i think that's the serial number, and I know that' s particular of the roma or gran premio model).
Can anybody help me about this two things??

Thank you and sorry for the bad English and the awful photos arrangement

PS: Here I attached the picture of the frame and the legnano roma olimpiade fro this forum but diffrent seatube lugs.

And this is the similar frame but diffrent seatube lugs.

I'm fairly certain that this is not a Roma. The Roma typically used nicer lugs and the stays were mitred and nicely blended into the seat lug. However, the definitive way to tell a Roma is to check for a cinch bolt binder slot on the inside of the top and seat tube junction (see photo). The Roma used a different cinch bolt than the lower models and required a binder slot.

The lack of the binder slot would indicate a lower model. It looks like it has Campagnolo rear dropouts. If so, it it probably a Gran Premio, though the lugs are bit cruder than the gran Premio I've owned and seen. Regardless, it should be no older than 1961 by virtue of the cable hanger boos on the back of the set lug, which was reportedly introduced for the Universal 61, centre-pull brakes.

Thank you for the reply T-Mar. I will check for a cinch bolt binder slot on the inside of the top and seat tube junction. And yes it has Campagnolo rear dropouts. I will try to search legnano models before 1961 for now.

I concur with T-Mar, the bike, at best, is a Grand Premio. Also, the slot for the seat binder is not always an indication of a Roma. I had a Gran Premio with the slot.

Thank you randyjawa! And this the update condition after the paint is removed. And there another serial number on the left side of the headtube. The number is 331247. Getting excited here

joedith-

A fellow Canadian has a site called Condorino . It has a great deal of Legnano related information especially on restoration. I hope it will be helpful.

Here is a link to a page about my 1962 Legnano Gran Premio. It includes some reference to the original components for the bike, which was complete when I received it.

If you have other specific information requests or would like close up pics of the frame let me know.
