Thanks, haven't yet had a need to look at the Voyageur comparison chart, trying to keep mental note of frames/years that should take 650b x 42mm (realizing there may be some variation within the same model/year. Ehem. Raleigh). This option looks fun if willing to move canti bosses around.

WW - did you have to dimple the chainstays to get 42s to fit?? Also looks from the top pic like they may be dimpled to start.

Yes, they were already dimpled. No additional dimpling was required. Roughly 4mm clearance each side.

Today's progress.

Now on hold until the bars, brake levers, and shim/sram free hub body are here.

Looking sweet!

I actually don't mind the Pacenti decals/black rims with this frame. Tasteful enough and black matches the rack.

Getting closer. I think I want to lower the bars a bit (but I can't with this stem) and will probably get a silver post eventually. The front rack is going back on once I get this all dialed in.

Really enjoying this bike so far. Need a different saddle or post as I can't get the Brooks back far enough on this one. Been commuting on it this week:

Taking it camping next Friday and up to northern california for some riding the week after that.

Made some panniers and today was my first ride with it semi-loaded. Handles great. Might try to make a saddlebag too before my trip.

I really like the look of those bars from the side. B132? I wish they came wider. They're measured at the end of the drops, and they flare out- so a 44 still ends up being 38 on the ramps.

The bike is looking fun! I still wouldn't want to drink out of the bottom bottle.

Quite the expeditionary looking vehicle. You did a very good job loading it down. How are you getting there, drive then off- load the bike or taking off from the house?

Left after work Friday, then rode back to work Saturday morning. Just 50 miles round trip, so nothing crazy but a good trial run. Everything went well, but ideally I think I'd like to move 1/3 of the weight to the back. Hoping to be able to find a seat pack before my next camping trip later this week.

Sweet!

If you were t retake and increase the trail a bit you might find it handles the front load better.

You probably mean lower the trail. It's a possibility, but I'd probably opt for a custom fork instead of shortening this one by adding rake.

Sorry, yes, I was thinking thinking of increasing rake when I typed...typing on my phone keyboard is like thinking through a straw...

Hi. How's this thing coming along? I have an 85 Voyageur I was considering converting to 700c but I think I'd be happier with the squish from some fat 650b tires. Part of me wanted to keep it stock as it's in pretty good shape, but whatever, I don't think it's exactly a collectible (it's not an SP if that would change it's value). I think I'd enjoy it more with fatter tires and a more modern drive train (15 speed/half step gearing is not something I think I can get used to). I have no idea if there's anyone in my area that could move the canti bosses, but I'll look into it.

Would you happen to have a list of all the parts you've hung on that beauty?
