Koga Miyata - Runner

Just picked one of this up - Looks like a nice bike, seems slightly heavy - can anyone tell me any history beyond what I've read on Koga-Miyata (did a search but didn't see RUNNER mentioned).
Its a road bike - looks like a 'racer'

Thread resurrection.

I'm building one up as a cheap winter training bike with mudguards and a parts-bin drivetrain.
It has proprietary FM-1 triple butted ChroMo tubing, is from 1991, and takes a 26.8mm seatpost.
hopefully it will prove to be a nice ride.

It is an etry level road bike model. You can find it in the catalogs on the Koga website.

Parts bin special, salvaged/scavenged drivetrain, retrued discarded wheelset, I have about €15 in this little beauty. I just need to put on some pedals and pump the tyres & itīll be good for a shakedown run.

I would imagine it will go up vertical walls, the gearing is so low!

A fun little parts-bin project.

Looks most road worthy. Hard to be sure, but head tube angle seems steep enough to make it a responsive rider.

. besides - every good man needs a little pink in their lives to get through the winter.

Weeeell, Iīve just accidently bought an RSX 7-speed groupset on eBay, in excellent condition, so this little pink Miyata may be returning to a road bike configuration at some point after the winter! Itīs going to be spending a little quality time with a colleague in Switzerland for a month or two.

Having put a few miles on it I can really recommend the set up. Flat bar road bikes are a hoot around a city.

Hi, I am living in Amsterdam and there is no I shortage of koga miyata around. I have the a few and I am sure that there is no ruunner, it could be a road runner. Pretty sure on that.

I have to semi agree with this, as far as I know runner is usually the second word in the model name for koga miyata, i.e. ridge runner.

Morning chaps,

The bike has the remnants of the 'Runner' decal on the top tube.

koga miyata sold a Runner S in 1989, and a Runner in 1990, which is the one I have.

https://www.koga.com/files/1/1/4/Koga_Brochure_1990.pdf

Page 10.

on page 14 you can see a nice Dutch chap called Aart assembling a Runner, the decal is mostly visible on one of the photos.

All vintage catalogues are available online.

Ridge runner was an MTB, you are quite correct.
