Huzzah.

There's a well-known rando guy on the east coast known as "Poppi" who had a custom-made 66.6cm rando bar made for him for comfort and gravel. He calls it the leather bar.

Thanks for posting! Looks a lot like my bike, rust and all...

edit: but I don't look like Poppi!

I'll probably experiment with tweaking the shape so that I can change one or two cogs in the back and not have to adjust it.

Have you considered a mountain bike front derailleur? I'm not sure I still have it, but I used to have a top pull Deore LX front derailleur (like this, I think) that probably would have worked for you. Most of Shimano's new stuff is designed to pull from either the top or bottom and is correspondingly chunky and ugly, but they used to make top-pull specific mechs that weren't too bad and generally accommodated 48-36-26 cranks.

The other option I see a lot with CX bikes is a pulley near the bottom bracket that lets you use bottom pull derailleurs. That's not a terribly elegant solution and may interfere with your fenders. Problem Solvers makes one that clamps on if you wanted to experiment before breaking out the torch.

Nice job, Gugie. You should feel very good about building this neat machine yourself. Kudos!

If you can live without the adjuster, a Shimano Shadow style rear derailleur will give you a much better cable run.

Fun, informative thread.

Thanks for taking the time to write and all of the exceptional pics.

Gives me great ideas for some design ideas I have been kicking around.

Finally back from the powder coats, and the decals came today.

Obscure, unpronouncable Italian last name, check

Named after some cool ride, check

Enormous, beefy, Viking battle axe reminding fork crown, check

Now I just gotta find some time to build it back up and ride it!

Awesome! Great work, and dig the root beer color too. It has an almost chromovelo appearance. Looking forward to seeing it built up. That fork crown is fantastic.

Wow, that really turned out nicely, much likes for the name and logo decals. You won't be seeing any others out on the riads and trails.

It's actually a "copper" color, but I agree with everyone that sees root beer brown. And it definitely looks like chromovelato.

I built the bike around the new 26x2.2 Rat Trap Pass tires and disc brakes. One of the first design decisions on the frame was fork crown, the Pacenti MTB jumped out and said "me!"

More pics.

Wow! I've been waiting for this day!!

That looks fantastic, the color is superb and a very nice job on the custom decals, too. Did you do those yourself or commission?

I can hardly wait to see it built-up. I hope we don't have to wait three months for that

It definitely looks copper in person and, amazingly, even more beautiful than in the pictures. That was a gem of a color selection.

Andy, an alternate, and correct second pronunciation.

I'm reminded of an old Star Trek episode:
Leila Kolomi: You never told me if you had another name, Mr Spock?
Spock: You couldn't pronounce it.
