How old is my bike? (Dawes SG)
Hi, first post here.
About ten years ago I bought an old Super Galaxy, seller described it as being about yr2000, but having travelled over a hundred miles to see it, it was clear that it must be considerably older- nevertheless it was fairly cheap, seemed in good nick, and I was loathe to go home without it, so I handed over the cash.
I had two or three years of use from it (nothing serious, just occasional rural commuting) before a change of circumstance led to it going into storage.
I've now dug it out again, and as I have noticed a slight wobble in the rear rim have booked it into my LBS for a service and wheel true. However before I start spending too much I would like to get an idea of its age/value/viability.
It has downtube shifters but cantilever brakes- isn't that a rather odd combo! Also Deore DX derrailleurs and hubs. 21 speed gears.
The fork may have been changed at some point, as it is black, co,pared to the green frame. Decals are tatty but legible, and show the tubing as being 531ST.
Any info appreciated.
Thanks
