Looks a bit long, but that looks like a Raleigh hub (missing the oil port clip) and a Raleigh Pattern rim. If it works and the cones are ok use it. You could always find a shorter axle at a bike recycler/coop if it bothers you.

My 1968 Sports front axle measures 141mm and it's bone stock.
There were no Raleigh nuts on the front hubs according to the '68 catalog at https://sheldonbrown.com/retroraleigh...talog-1968.pdf
