Schwinn Collegiate 3 Restore Project

Hi all,

I completed recently my first restoration project for a 70s Schwinn Collegiate 3. I wanted to share some before and afters with you all.

Before:

It took about 2 month (Afternoons after work) and about $80 to complete the work. New items installed were Tubes, Tires and saddle found online, which is not the original but I love the "S" saddles so I like how it looks !!

All the rest of the bike was completely dismantled, cleaned and mounted again. I had some issues with the Sturmey Archer 3 speed, as I also completely removed all its little pieces. Thanks YouTube videos !!

AFTER:

It rides great for its weight and is such a confutable bike for its age !

Hope you like it !

Alberto

Came out awesome,Alberto I like the fenders and the seat. Schwinns are great bikes to work on. Enjoy the ride!

Looks nice, just the right amount of frame patina. Its satisfying to make something pretty again. Congrats on doing a deep rebuild, even the hub.

I know that a lot of people sneer at heavy Schwinns like these, but for city riding or cruising on the bike paths they are sooo smooth and comfortable. If only it was flat were I live I would own a lot of these instead of just one.
