It is not a '70's era machine.

~1967.

Cannot be later than ~1968 because of shift levers. That was the final year for this sort of lever set, whether one wishes to term it GS or Valentino.

The Valentino/NGS shift levers with the large knurled nut we are all so familiar with did not launch until 1969. Since cycle fitted with Valentino gear ensemble it would have received this lever if made 1969 or later.

See this thread:

wrt the hubs - large flange with small round holes could be either Normandy Sport early type or Campag Sportman. Since qr skewers are clearly not Campag that makes the odds in favour of Normandy. Final year for old style Normandy Sport was 1967-68.

I didn't know Roold had used that style decal in the 60s.

Also, don't recall seeing the fancy lugs before.

I've learned several new things today.

Juvela, your post has made this bike much more interesting!

P.S. I was not suggesting that the bike was not interesting before, it was.

Yes, thank you!

Skewers clearly Sanshin Matsumoto. Did not enlarge original photo of complete machine adequately. Are hubs early type with dustcaps press fit to cones or later type with dust caps press fit to hub shell?

juvela wrongo como normale.

Wonder if bar original. Corrosion on chrome plating more like what one would see on a Japan bar than a French one.

Do new images mean you have gone to look at it? Since it appears to have been the recipient of a lavandation one would think you have accompanied it homeward...

Have fun!

Looking good Sloar! Thanks for the "after" photos. If you feel so compelled, I would appreciate a full component listing. And, of course, a ride report. Are those CLB racer course brakes?
