drewrockstar,

your inquiry might be a better fit over on the c&v appraisals and identifications forum.

Pics don't expand which makes it difficult to ID the bike

As long as the OP doesn't ask for an appraisal, his post is fine here in C&V.

Sorry for posting on here. A newbie just joined yesterday. The decal looks like from early 1970s and the frame has lugs. It is a ten speed.

Appears to have begun life as an A08 type machine and then received a good deal of attention. Perhaps someone has built it up from a bare frame they found somewhere. The GB Coureur brakes are at least a decade earlier than the bicycle. A Peugeot never would have come with those Huret shift levers at this time. Guessing frame about 1974 - subject to revision pending better imagery.

Readers would need some good detail photos in a much larger format to be able to give you solid information in this cycle.

Type of metal: steel gaspipe.
Quality level: low-end (stem shifters are a dead giveaway)
Not a 'racer" by any means, more of a cheap, everyday bike of no great value that's been well cared for. Might be worth the price if it works well, and the small size frame is right for you.

Hard to say on that one. The UO-8/UE-8 models in that era, 74-'76, which the decals suggest, would have had Aztec lugs on the headtube, this one does not. As well, the shifters would have been on the downtube, not on the stem, and there would have been brazed-on cable guides on the toptube for the rear brake, instead of the full-length cable with clips. Looks like a re-badged bike to me, but who knows, with all the component changes presently on it.

Frame's lugset is Bocama (BCM) Nr. 14, Pattern II.

Peugeot employed this set on PA and PR series machines and may have used it on others as well.

Bicycle is a genuine Peugeot and in original finish.

Keep in mind that poster and cycle are located in the U.K. Models manufactured for this market are different from those sent to North America so extrapolation from one's knowledge of North American models can be of a value limited.

Thank you all so much for sharing your wisdom. I am a newbie to Peugeot vintage bikes and road cycling. Have stopped mountain biking at the moment.
