Any good French seatposts out there??

So I'm starting this buildup of a Motobecane Grand Record and I'm looking for a French quality-built seatpost, but I'm drawing a blank. Does anyone know of such a beast? I'm currently using a Campy Nuovo Record s/p from the mid '70s.

Well, there's CLB, at least. I have an aero version from the 80's on my 78 GJ. Only reason for the upgrade from the original SR is I needed the length x diameter, and the CLB happened to fill the bill.

Look around for a Satri. They are sorta hard to find but are a lovely period correct French seatpost. Similar to an NR but much easier to adjust.

^^^ +1. The Satri-Gallet was my preferred replacement for Campagnolo's difficult to adjust Record seat post. Dual Allen head bolts, accessible from under extension were so much easier. As noted, they are French and period correct.

And there's one on Ebay right now. Says 27.2mm in the title, but pics clearly show 27 dead. Not sure what size your Moto needs, but I would imagine it needs one in the 26.something range?

Anyway, here's what it looks like - note the titanium upper clamps: Milremo Satri Gallet Seatpost 27 2 Titanium Clamp Vintage Bike Track 1960'S | eBay

I also seem to recall a model called Satri-Imax (nothing to do with wide screen movies ).

Are you familiar with that model?

Edit: oops, upon reflection I think the name is Satri-Imex.

Then there is the MAVIC -

It should be a 26.6, I think.

Right, pretty sure it's 26.6. Kinda standard for French Reynolds tubing at the time.

That Satri is a pretty good looking post.

I think Atax and Vitus may have made seatposts also.

Edit: looking at the Ebay prices for those brands they might as well be made out of gold!

Further edit: Not the right size anyway.

JPR or Routens. Although I think they are kind of clunky looking. YMMV.

My TdF too. As well as my Champion Team. The Le Champion, on the other hand, took a 26.6.
Dunno why.

MAVICS exist if you're doing a "French Only" bike or something. I think they were probably made by someone like Miche. I think Modolo always made their brakes.

Is that a Reynolds double-butted tubing, or something else?

Found these two Simplex seatposts out there:
Vintage Simplex Seatpost 26 6 Brevete Made in France 1980'S | eBay
Vintage Simplex SX 1500 Aluminium Seatpost "s" Insignia 26 4mm from 80'S | eBay

Some are real expensive but these were 45$ or less

The most commonly common Reynolds 531 butted seat tube is 19/22 gauge, which gives a theoretical inner diameter of 26.6 mm at the top of a metric seat tube, for the seat post. Most posts operate on 0.2 mm clearance fit, so 26.4 mm is the standard post size. However, it is also common practice to ream/hone the seat tubes to clean them out and return them to round in the event of distortion. A bit of a heavy hand during this process may result in a 26.6 mm post being the better fit.

I had a 2-bolt JPR (Jean-Paul Routens) post a while back. It's a cool original design and works very well, kind of like a Campagnolo Record but with easy access to the bolt heads.
Another good option would be a straight alloy seat pin with an Ideale micro-adjusting clamp.
