One that got away...

Did you ever have the chance to buy one you've been looking for and when the opportunity came up and you've kicked yourself afterwards? That happened this weekend. I was at a swap meet in Kansas City and someone was selling an english style roadster, late 40s, rod brake. I've been looking for something like this for a while and I rarely ever run across one or see one on Craigslist. If I do, it's too small for me. Anyway, this one wasn't in too bad of shape- definitely a project but I enjoy that and size wise I think it would have worked. But I passed on it. No idea why. Ever since I've been kicking myself- again, I just don't run across that style of bike very often at all. I keep telling myself there was something majorly wrong with it that I couldn't see and my intuition warned me off. :-)

Little different: I was planning to bid on an auction yesterday but napped through the end minutes (when I normally bid). It was a mislabelled item I'd been looking for for weeks. The $200 part sold for $30.

Kicking myself. Need to use a snipe service.

Exactly which time I passed one up would you prefer I divulge? I stopped counting a few years back, no need in making myself more miserable than usual.

If you're still kicking yourself over that bike, head on over to Pace Bicycle Haven on the east side of Kansas City (actually, Independence) and look up Mark Pace.

How does the modern saying go..."ABSOLUTELY!" Recently had a Derosa in my sights here in Atlanta...I hemmed and hawed for a couple days and, voila, gone!

No, don't use those snipe things. At least you played fair, like a gentleman. Be proud of that. You'll find one just as good. Your patience will be rewarded.

Thanks, I'll send him a message. His name has come up before, from someone when I was buying a Dawes off craigslist but I completely forgot about it. Also, you have a great blog! One I check out often. You have some really nice bikes!

I let an ergo athena group go a few years back on the bay. I think it went for just over $200. Still think about it.
