That really is a nice looking frame. The drillium crank is actually just right for it, despite being neo retro, as the frame is definitely from the drillium era. If you get bored at some point you could sand off the holdsworth logo and repolish. There's been a couple posts of a one done like that recently. The main problem is losing the anodization would sentence you to regular polishing.

Sorry but I don't approve of your brake hack. As your intuition is telling you, you need the two points of contact. Sure it would work for a while, but IMO the risk of a problem is too high. I'd be inclined to put some Dia or Gran Compe centerpulls on there myself. They are essentially the same as dual pivots but not lopsided...

Colour filling the crankset flutes was a pretty common practice back in the day. That would allow the OP to remove the VO logo and still retain the anodizing. The fill was typically colour matched to the frame or the accent colour used on the decals, bar tape and cable housing.

yeah drillium works here- my first drillium anything I don't mind the holdsworth on there.. and some day, i may transfer that crank to my actual holdsworth, so rather keep the logo just in case! you may have missed the post where i'll use a coupler inside the fork to create the necessary length. but I do hear you on the centerpulls... its one of those things where i have these brakes on hand... and I don't have a nice set of centerpulls... so...

Oh, if you are an actual Holdsworth owner, by all means keep the logo...

I like T-mar's idea too. If you did a color infill with water based acrylic or something, it could always be removed later.

OK, I suppose a long coupler would work but try to get one better than hardware store grade. Still I'd keep an eye on that brake. Another idea would be to replace the centerbolt if possible. I mostly mentioned Dia Compe CP because they are widely available for pretty cheap, unlike Cyclone derailleurs. In addition to that they work well, and they'd just be cool.

just in: looks like a member (who can self identify if they wish) is hooking me up with some necessary bits and including some centerpulls. so the hack may be moot. I may do it anyway just to show it can be done.

improved brake hack works great!

also trying on some 700c wheels ... sort of like em and the brakes just reach. still considering the center pulls.

had a minute to refurb some old wheels and put some 28mm tires on. I really want wider but they wont fit (properly) on these wheels. gonna give them a try and see how it is and upgrade when I can/find the right deal.
