I removed an english bottom bracket drive side, LEFT TO LOOSEN?

I understand that a shell could be threaded backwards, but I don't get how a BB shell could be "installed backwards". The shell pretty much only goes in one way, doesn't it?

Not on a filet brazed or tigged frame, it can go either way and both ends look the same on the outside.

You are thinking of a lugged steel bottom bracket.




If those threads are stripped, and the frame is valuable, there are so many ways to fix it I can't list them all. In no case is the frame toast.
