sears spaceliner
 

I came across an old Sears Spaceliner bike and was hoping someone could tell me more about it. It is a womans bike that has some numbers stamped in the frame where the brake lever is straped to the frame. They are as follows- 502 463130 294562. I hope someone knows about theses bikes and can tell me what year it is. It seems to be all there and as original as can be (rust and all). The seat is mint but the chrome is pitted. I do like it but want to make sure it is worth my while spending a lot of time on it or maybe find another bike. Thank you for your input.

In the spaceliner the most collectable is the boys frame.I wouldn't spend a lot for a girls frame bike.And these were built for Sears by Murray of Ohio.The 502 part of the number is a sears code for Murray.

I just bought on eBay a Sears Tote Cycle, the numbers on the bottom bracket are in two lines, the first is near the center of the bottom bracket, and is either 507-, 509-, or 504-, the third number looks like it was stamped twice, each time with a different number, so is hard to make out. The remaining numbers are 459211. The next set of numbers are to the rear of the bike, on the bottom bracket, and are 603426.

The rear hub is a Sturmey Archer SC3, date coded(?)/coded 72 10. I do not know if this is the original hub, but it could be. there is a Sturmey Archer "Stick Shift" mounted on the seat tube.

Does anyone know who made this bike for Sears, and what year it was made from the numbers on the bottom bracket? I should also mention that it has a "BMA/6" sticker on the frame as well, as this may help date the bike. Any info provided will be greatly appriciated.
