Help required in Identifying my vintage RALEIGH Bike!!

Hi All,
I am "Muthu Kumar Kanakachalam" from India
52 years / Married / Engineering graduate , have Tiny sector Automobile( 4 wheeler) servicing center, my hobby collecting Vintage & classic Motorcycles ..have few motor bikes and few Bicycles !!
Picked This RALEIGH (frame#6276 DN) recently , a pure Bone stock Machine, just seat missing from the previous owner, nothing have been dismantled till date from the factory , including Tires (26.0 X 1 3/4 for S7), Seems like Bike was out of road for at least 25 years , for Non availability of TIRES in India from then till Now !!
With my limited knowledge on Bicycles ..initially thought it was *ROLLFAST*, but after seeing in flesh couldn't believe this is Unadulterated RALEIGH BICYCLE !!
As a newbie to this forum , dunno were to post my query , thought this is the appropriate thread ..hence ....
post script:- Moderators may shift my post elsewhere if I were wrong
Thanks in advance !!
regards

KMK

Edit :- Front wheel i Dynohub & rear a 3 speed Sturmy Archer dated 1956

Welcome to the forum ! That is an interesting bike. I have never seen a model like that. Would help if we could get some good close ups of the major areas of the bike.

What does the headbadge say, look like?

If that's a Raleigh, it's of a frame type I've never seen from them before. The frame looks like a typical American "balloon tire" cruiser type common between the mid 1930's and the mid 1950's. Does the shifter say "Sturmey Archer"? If it does not, then it is NOT a Raleigh, no matter what the headbadge says. What do the cranks look like? If they are cottered 3-piece cranks, with a 26 tpi bottom bracket, it's probably a Raleigh. If it's a 1 piece Ashtabula crank, then it's American. We need a lot of close-up pics......

If you enlarge the pic of the shifter it clearly says Sturmey Archer and 3 Speed.

OK, still need to see the cranks. SA sold hubs to a lot of international companies. Raleigh cranks are invariably 3-arm steel, cottered, with no shoulder on the drive side cup.

FWIW, although we never saw such a bike in the USA, I would assume that "American style" bikes had a market domestically, and probably could sell for less than American bikes would, but would probably not in the USA. We were buying their workingman's bikes because they were lighter, reliable, and simple. An expensive knockoff of an American bike would probably sell poorly.

That's an interesting bike you don't see many if any true cantilever framed Ralieghs in the US or England, because of Schwinns patents on design. Yours looks to be 50's-60's Indian built Raliegh hard to tell actual age since they made this style for the Indian/Asian market for several decades with almost no changes.

The Fork crown, too doesn't match Raleigh pattern with the "Thimbles". Twin cantilever frames were widely available outside the US. I had a Czech made Favorite with the same frame style.

@powertwin, I think we could help more if we had better photos. The best way to add photos is to put them on another site, like Flickr or another photo hosting site, and just post a link here.

From the little I see, I think your rear wheel has 40 spokes and front wheel 32, so I'm willing to believe Raleigh.

FWIW, tires are still available for that size. I would bet that somebody in the US or GB would be willing to pay somewhere in the range of $400 or more for it.
