odd seat tube find
I am posting this here because it probably would happen more on C&V bikes. I bought an older Surly LHT last week and while I flipped it over on the stand I could hear something slide down in the tube. I thought maybe some extra spokes, but after pulling the seat post out comes an automotive spark plug. Maybe it was joke to create an annoying rattle. Anyone ever find anything else interesting ? frisky

I have pulled a bottom bracket and had long dead insects come out - too crusty and broken to identify.

I found a paper towel stuffed in a Atala seat tube, the seat tube had rust holes where the paper towel was sitting.

I had a rattle in one of doors of a car I once owned. Since it was under warranty and was new I brought it in to see if they could fix it. They took the door panel off and lo and behold they found a marble in the bottom of the door. I bought the car new so it was a factory extra.

I keep a mini-pump in my seat tube. I've never used it, and this post reminded me it is there. I hope I don't sell the bike and forget the pump is there!

I heard rattling in the headtube of a Motobecane I used to own, shortly after I got it. Thought it was the headset, but when I pulled the stem, there was a corkscrew in the steerer, haha. I still have it.

BITD one of the guys in our small circle was a fanatic about his bike. Totally obsessive about every little thing. When I decided it was time to intervene, I removed his seat post and put bearing ball into his top tube, via the vent, and replaced the post.
That was good for a few days before he figured it out, then I had to sweat out a few weeks waiting for his revenge, which it turned out was beautifully simple. He just let me sweat until I figured it out.

I was kind of hoping for a kilo of smack, but then Bianchi is hard to pronounce in French.

Since this is where the thread is going, here's a quick list of some things I've found in or on old bikes:
-A fossilized joint in the handlebar
-A $20 bill from around '83
-20ft roll of duct tape
-A box of matches inside a seatpost
-A black widow spider and eggs well established in an otherwise shipshape Ideale saddle
Surely more folks and flippers have found more bizarre things attached to bikes! How fun!

One of my bikes has a half a rivnut rattling around in the downtube. Does that count? I'll get around to extracting it one of these days.
This isn't as exciting as some of the stuff you guys have been finding. But, I found this in the bottom bracket of a Fuji Ace I was working on.
I believe they are original lathe turnings from either threading the bottom bracket shell, or perhaps reaming the seat tube or head tube at the factory.

I know this has been shown here before, but newer BF members might be interested. This poor thing thought the seat tube/bottom bracket cavity might prove to be a good mouse house - wrong..!

Rattle in DS chain stay, but I will never know as I foamed it through the vent hole and it remains silent.

I kept hearing a small "thump" in my frame on an older bike, OS tubing.
Not sure what it was, I checked the wheels: nothing.
I checked the rails on the saddle: no issues.
I check the tires, calipers, saddle bag, nothing.
Still the thump continued. I couldn't reproduce it in the garage.
Finally, I pulled the bottom bracket out, pulled the seat tube out.
After running a hose in there, out popped a severed human toe, the 2nd one in, it appeared.
I called a toe truck and they came and got it. I put my bike back together and rode on.

I found an abandoned wasp nest inside the handlebar of my old RB-2. As near as I can tell, the wasps must have crawled in through the cable slot in the right bar-con.
