Bianchi Campione d'Italia 1997

Hello, y'all!
I'm very new to biking, and I've been meaning for a long time to get into this community.
I've been saving money for a while, and with spring on its way, I'm really looking forward to a new bike.
I found a 1997 Bianchi Campione for $500. It's in excellent shape, the bike owner is a bike shop owner, and every thing is in working order.
It has full Campagnolo components with double butted Dedacciai chromoly (I don't know what this means).

What do you think about this?
I'm very new to biking, so any tips regarding shopping for bikes are greatly appreciated.

This is still a little new for C&V but too old for road. I don't know anything about this year but sounds like higher end. Maybe someone will see this and have some answers. Welcome!

Rule number one around here -- pictures help immensely!

As noted in another response, this is a little new for C&V, yet it is turning 20 this year. The 25-year mark has often be used to denote classic automobiles.

As the somewhat biased owner of a 1981 Campione d'Italia, I say, "great bike."

crustyrooster77, A buddy of mine and his wife bought a his and her CdI around '97. They have been great bikes and are nicely equipped with a Mirage 8S group.

Welcome to the forums. Dedacciai is a brand of tubing and double butted means the tubing wall thickness varies, normally being thicker near the ends.

The DdI was normally a mid level bike but at $1200 new in '97 $500 doesn't sound unreasonable assuming it is in excellent mechanical condition.

Thank you everybody! (I'll definitely take note on the 25 year mark next time. My apologies.)

I forgot to add the pictures. How does this look to y'all? Thanks again. Wow, I really love the positive vibes here!

crustyrooster77, Folks on this forum are pretty forgiving about the 25 year old 'rule'.

The bike looks terrific enough to back up it's price, IMHO.

Mirage and centaur were nearer to the bottom of the Campagnolo lineup. The rims look like they might not have the same decals...Maybe a replacement front? If so it could signify a crash or maybe the wheel was stolen.

For $500 I think you can do better.
