3Rensho, what would you do?
Finally picked this up last night, made a whole day of it. Visited the bicycle museum, plenty of pics for a separate thread later. Ok, now this is a repaint with a few minor rust issues. Should I give it a new paint job or touch up? Also what would you do about the internal brake line? It was nicely done using Gios plugs. Put braze on loops then paint it leave as is? Frames a tad big so I don't know the future of the frame yet. It did come with a nice Dura Ace group.

Being that you say it's a little large for you, I would just touch-up to stabilize any rust issues. If you decide you like the bike and want to keep/ride it then do a proper restoration.

+1. If the frame isn't for you, and you're going to pass it on to someone else anyway, then that person is the one who will want to make the decisions. I'd find that person, and ask him/her what to do. He/she may tell you to paint it, or send it as is. Until then, I wouldn't do anything.

I'll post some more pics later, since there is always at least one issue taking a bike apart. The stem and seat post came out easy, but the drive side crank dust cap will not cooperate.

Since it has been repainted once already will it increase the worth that much? I can see restoring, repairing and touching up, decals, new paint, building up with appropriate high end bits for a flip going upside down? Glad to see you made the trip to get it... My wife would not authorize me to :-( That frame would fit me:-)

Repaint will let you replace the 'we don't make them any more' shifter mount too..
maybe fill in the rain holes in the top tube where the brake cable passage let in all that water.
Inside may have significant rust damage.

Love that spoiler/fairing behind the BB shell.
I'm in the "leave it alone and let the next owner make the call" camp. Looks like it would have been a pretty pricey frame when new, so somebody will want to put the money into it. Nice score!

I might put it on the frame don't fit thread. It's a 60cm st 57cm tt. It came with a nice Dura Ace group I could swap over.

Looks fine by me.
If you want new paint, what about buying a new bike?

wasn't there a thread a few months back and somebody had found a replacement source for those plastic cable-routing plugs?
I'm surprised the Konnos used such bits but sure looks like the frame is a legit later model "aero-ish Cyclone".
Congrats!

...I bought and restored a GIOS Compact with those stupid top of the tube cable pass throughs, and as you say, there was a lot more rust in there than I originally anticipated. Might want to consider derutsifying the top tube interior by blocking the ends and filling it with Evapo-Rust or similar, then dropping in some red rust primer paint or something to prevent further damage.........depending on what you can see with a light and a mirror.

This isn't your size, so if I were you, I'd sell it and get something you want. That said, I'd have to look at the numbers to see if it's my size.

That's an early SRA, the aero model that replaced the SR.
Changes are: plate behind BB, aero fork blades, aero crown, no chrome, drop Shimano EF ends for Campagnolo 1010B ends, aero seat stays, fastback and the shifter mount on top for aero levers ( sizes 525 &up; they won't fit on a 480 or a 505) There were a special models based on that SRA frame too , such as Black And Gold with real gold plating.
As I said I don't have the actual records from serial numbers 500-800 but it's a late 1984 or an '85.
So the comment about the special models I should think would cover your pursuit bike. Sloar's is very much one of the early SRAs. I had A658 and (IIRC) A560 at one time. I believe someone on the forums has A658 (purple) and I know someone on the forums has A560 (rose)

If the fit is not 100% I have done best with "The frame doesn't fit pass-around game". I have sunk $$ into quality bikes to make them right and lost out most of the time, still feels good to me but can be expensive. With the pass-around game we end up with both parties happy which is always the ideal outcome for me. Someone will love that frame and the needed braze ons, rust chasing, paint and decals will not be an issue for them.

As per my fuso that long stem puts the rider over the front wheel which makes the bike much more stable on rapid descents. Love those fine lugs. No point spending money repainting unless you keep it long term. Condition is mixed with that paint and rear rust area but the large size may actually help value as not many large 3renshos around.

Took care of the rust this morning. Letting the touch up paint dry, then I'm going to reassemble using a shorter stem. The 60cm st isn't an issue but 56cm tt is usually my max. I at least want to ride it once.
