Simplex slj model name
Hi guys, I just found this cool vintage Simplex slj derailleur.
But I don't know which model it is and its summary. Do you think it supports my freewheel with 28t?
Hope free I can install this derailleur onto my vintage Peugeot PA10 '1963.
Thanks

Looks to be a Simplex SLJ 4400... A mid range RD made by Simplex in the late 70's to the early 89's
Differs from the higher model 5500 by having steel pivots, instead of aluminum alloy that the 5500 has, otherwise mechanically identical......
28T will be pushing it with this short caged RD. You might consider getting a longer caged RD. The Simplex SX models from the early 80's with the dropped parallelogram design will be a good choice to consider for better wide range shifting. Those also come in long caged versions, but I think, Simplex called out the short cage models of having an upper limit of 28T, IIRC...

Looks to be the original version of the SLJ.
Sutherland's rates it as a 30-30 - 30T large cog and 30T of wrap.

Thank you very much guys for identifying the derailleur. I may buy one and then swapping derailleur cage or sprocket.
Btw a while I was trying to identify the derailleur, I found this Simplex data book issued by some Japanese bike store.
But I think it's hard to get one if you are not living in Japan.
