What is this "Paramount"
Picked this hot mess up for the price of admission. I could be wrong but this doesn't look like a Paramount to me. The frame is actually cleaning up very nice, the chrome has a clear coat over it and the rust spots are coming off with the clear coat. Thanks

Looks like it was originally painted red. Nice frame, whatever the possibilities.

my name is Jim
The older chrome Paramounts had red lug lining so that actually looks correct.

You can check out the Paramount serial numbering process on the Waterford site. That will give you a definite answer.

What throwing me is the numbers are on the b/b shell not the dropout.

+1 on Voyageur. Many similarities with my '82.

Crap, I didn't think it was a Paramount. But I still had hopes. Has a nice Jim Blackburn front rack at least. I think I'm still going to clean it up and make a nice rider out of it.

The badge is Paramount, you could sell that and recoup a decent sum, otherwise-
Call it Paramountish.

The Voyageur frame is really nice. Quad butted Japanese Chromo tubing, I had the chrome 25" and it weighed the same as my 531 frame, 4.25lbs. Sold it to my fried and he's still riding it.

Plus, you'll probably discover it has a stem diameter of .833 and that's not what a Paramount would use.

That serial number does not correspond with any reported Paramount serial numbering system.
Determine the Manufacturing Date
I have no idea if it is a Voyager or not - I know nothing about those.
Looks like it will make a nice rider, though.

Kactus I did say 1970s and those are not Prugnat lugs either. Just lower end lugs that were not hand filed. These are the lugs on my Jan 1974 P10-9 for example. Roger

I suspect this isn't the quad-butted variety. Mine specifies "double butted top and bottom tubes" on the frame decal. Same SN format (81 03 15424), same location, and apparently my frame was also built in '81 though all components pointed to '82 model year.

That critter looks a whole lot like my '77 all-chrome Super Le Tour 12.2. Same lugs, same seat stay tops, same 0.833" quill stem requirement. Whether a Voyageur or a Super Le Tour 12.2, either will be well built, the chrome will polish up (and the rust can be removed), and it will ride very nicely!
