1985 Peugeot Tradition Men's bike - Advice needed.
Hello, everyone!
Since I am going to University at the end of the year I thought it would be a good idea to purchase a bicycle for commuting purposes around the campus and city. I have looked at many options, some being vintage and others more modern; I had found a vintage bicycle that wowed me and fitted within my budget. This is the bicycle I wish to seek advice. I have yet to try it out in person, but I don't wish to travel and test it if it really isn't a good option for my needs. I know one of the most important factors is the frame size which should fit my needs as I am roughly 5ft 10inch.
Below I shall link the bicycle I am thinking of purchasing and would like any options by purely image and sale description, I shall also now commence with my questions!
Is maintenance costly for aged bicycles? What should I be looking for when it comes to quality if I do view it in person? Would this withstand daily use on road and perhaps country terrain? Is it a reasonable price?
This is the bicycle - 1985 Peugeot Tradition Men's Bike - 100% Original Classic Steel Vintage Commuter | eBay
Thank you all for reading and replying!
P.S. I will be buying it from GumTree as they seem to be selling it at a lower price of £165.

Looks nice. It's modeled after a classic English 3 speed, which others here know more about, but they are durable, maintenance is cheap and minimal, and they should get you just about wherever you need to go. Viewing it in person: Does it shift and brake properly? Is it comfortable?

That is a lot of money, but I would be willing to pay that much for it. I was not aware that Peugeot ever made that type of bicycle.

@Hilt: neat bike - to your maintenance question I doubt you will need to do much maintenance at all beyond the normal cleaning and occasional lubing.
@Grand Bois: missed one of these locally a couple of years back - just didn't act fast enough. They are pretty neat.
