1987 Schwinn Circuit (in progress)

First of all big thanks to @wrk101 for selling me the frame and group set for this bike. He's been nicer and more generous than I have deserved. Also big thanks to Daniel Brierton at CIP Powder Coating Inc in Buellton, CA for the exceptional paint job. This is the second frame I have had Daniel coat. Both are great. This one is amazing. Few pics below. First the original frame which honestly wasn't too bad but had some issues. Then some pictures of the powder coated frame. I still need to order decals then the reassembly fun can begin!

Fantastic result....I like the slightly less glossy look- it really contrasts the bright chrome. That is going to look great with new decals.

Yes, original was flat black, and with the chrome, looks sweet.

That is looking fantastic!

Join the (extremely small) club of chrome-and-satin/matte black repaint owners. I did this to a two-axles-in-the-grave '74 Paramount that needed a ton of help and a full restoration. I'm glad you found a great powdercoat guy, and one that does great masking, too! No one wanted to tackle complicated Nervex lugs, so I had to aerosol can spray primer and paint myself. I think you will really really like the result you get when you put the decals on and build it up. It will look stunning with silver and high polish components, if mine is anything to go by. Can't wait to see it finished!

Much better than many of the powder coating jobs (horror stories?) that I've seen. And it's not too far from the parent's place in Cali.

Excited to see it come together!

I'm curious, are you building up with silver components? I'd love to see how that would look since I went black with mine.

I have nearly all of the original (mostly silver) components minus the saddle and pedals. Trying to keep it as close to stock as possible.

That powder coat looks great--- very close to the original matte black. Have you found a source for the decals?

Thank you! The instructions said to shoot a bunch of light tack coats, but I knew that would only result in spiky looking paint. I wanted it to lay down smooth, so I did three tack coats to give opacity as well as to allow the next coat to adhere well. I then sprayed a nice heavy coat that laid down and smoothed out, as was my plan. Did that process twice and am really pleased with the result.

Your powder coat is a lot more durable than my tougher-than-the-average-spray-paint job, which will be of great benefit to you. I have to be much more careful with mine, but I don't mind!

Also, any suggestions for an affordable white saddle? Doesn't need to be epic.

Used white Regals come up on ebay fairly regularly. I suppose they can also be found new if you're feelin' spendy.

You may want to consider immortalizing your decal placement in the Unofficial Bonehead Moves Appreciation thread. Rarely is such perfection so very, very wrong.

Three options I can offer:
White Selle Italia Q-bik SE (has the cutout to ventilate yer taint)
Used original white Turbo in nice condition, no rips or tears
New white leather Australian Cardiff saddle, Brooks-like, copper plated rails

Interested? PM me.
