Just picked up this nice little roadster to refurbish. (See the pics thread)
The front wheel has a Malliard hub, with a rather small (8mm) axle, which is keyed as well. Solid, no QR. One end is in pretty bad shape, not-quite-stripped.
I've been looking around the web, and unable to find much on this. Will I be able to find a replacement axle?

Otherwise you might contact an 'older' shop back east (or wherever...) that might have an idea of where to start looking.
Kopps Cycle in Princeton, Mike and Vic Fraysse' old place, "Park Cycle" is now Cosmic Wheel I believe, Ridgefield Park, there was another longtime shop in Westwood NJ, and a bunch in the Morristown area. Now, whether they have anything or even have a clue what you;re talkin about, is a crap shoot.
But you never know...
Haven't looked at your pics yet, but if I get a chance and something else comes to mind, I'll write...

Have done quite a bit of work on it so far, the components are mostly Shimano 600, so I've been able to find bearing cones without any trouble. My LBS had an 8mm axle in his bin!
I want to install a 6-speed freewheel, Nashbar has one for about 20 bucks. The rear dropout spacing is 126 mm, so it should just drop in.
The one part I'd like to replace is the crank. Thing has a really cheesy crankset with fixed steel chainrings. the left crankarm is in bad shape, with the hole badly stretched.
Would sure look better with a nice vintage 600 or 105 crank!

In a pinch, you can try rethreading your Swiss BB to English/ISO. It's a little risky, but mine (Peugeot PKN-10) worked out fine and let me change over to a Sugino mountain triple crankset.
