Vintage Mixte (Dutch Batavus) project bike
I was looking for a project bike that was comfortable for city riding and easy to get on and off of. Wanted something a little different and this is what I came up with...here are some before and after pictures. Bought a vintage Batavus 1972 Mixte Tourist Frame on Ebay. And then went to work. Added an internal 7 speed Shimano Alfine hub and Shimano Alfine cranks; chopped down some long crusier bars, shortened brake handles, added brooks seat and grips; Velo orange front rack and a vintage feeling rear light. Would love to hear anyone's thoughts on this. It is a really fun and comfortable ride for up and down the lakefront. I am calling this the Monkey Bike and that is my "brand" that I created for fun.
