I'm not certain where that model does fall, but it is not at the very top of the heirarchy. "Team", "Professional", "League", "Newest", "Finest" have been the names of the top models for many of the years Fuji has been selling bicycles. If T-Mar is about, I'm certain he could pinpoint your model. Still, a Fuji with Val Lite is nothing to look down your nose at. Sounds like a fine bike - too good to have its derailleur mount lopped off.

If you lived near me, you'd be rethinking that single-speed mantra.

The Espree, as far as I can remember, was an approx. $300 road bike in the mid 1980's. Cromoly frame and fork, alloy f and r quick release wheels, Dia-Compe side pull brakes, Sugina double cotterless crank, and Suntour derailleurs. Nice solid road bike, no indexing. I agree with the previous respondent that, unless you paid very little for it, it is heresy to lop off the rear derailleur tab.

Oh I am going to make it a single Speed....I will just keep the deraileurs and stuff for something in the future. It sounds like a Middle of a Road bike....Not to Bad! THe rear wheel does not have a q release.
