SL frame with C-record group (delta brakes) value?
Can anyone help me out with an estimate on the following bike? What would be considered a fair price? Being a shimano guy, I'm not too familiar with old Campy stuff values

C-Record stuff is getting more popular all the time... You might want to grab that one. Pay as little as possible

Just the brakes should be worth $150, the frame at least $100, cranks $75, derailleurs $75, and figure at least another $50 for what's left... If you can get it for under $350, you're doing OK.

Wouldn't surprise me if the guy is asking a grand. Not that I'd pay it, but C-Record is drawing well esp the Deltas. When it comes to function people either love or hate them it seems but they are distinctive and attract attention.
Gardin made nice frames and the other stuff ain't bad, esp that Regina FW.
To me the sum is greater than the parts and if it's real clean $500 isn't outrageous. My $.02 FWIW.

not $1000, but I agree that you'd come out at $500...unless you are unnaturally attached to the idea of having a Gardin...what is the asking price?

Hold on there kids. What kind of condition is this bike in? Do the cranks and brakes have engraved logos? Is there internal cabling to the front and rear derailleurs (as well as the rear brake)? What's the frame made of? Leather covered bars? What are the pedals? Synchro 7 or not? Titanium chain?
If the answer to any two of these questions is 'like new' or yes, it could easily be worth a grand US.

Based upon only the description given, would you pay $1000? This one is another case of not enough information to accurately estimate value... There are too many "what ifs".

I've just been following this forum to get a free education on vintage bikes, but I wondered if you were looking at this for riding or resale? If for riding, aren't you a little concerned about trying to crank up hills in a 42-18?
Maybe my bikes as a kid were geared like this too - I don't remember. I did hate hills a lot more then than now, although shaving 10 or 15 lbs. off the bike probably helps too.
If you're looking at this just for a collectible or for resale, I guess I'm of no help. That's why I lurk here - to try to learn some things. I was just curious about applying pragmatism to vintage bikes, which I realize may be equivalent to applying logic to tax law...

Makes sense. Around here (Denver, CO), I don't know what that's like. One of these days I'll have to head East of my house instead of West and give it a try. But West is where the pretty stuff is...

So yeah, it's not my size. so i won't be riding it. It'll either be for my sister or a friend, or something to just have around for people to ride if they want.

Super record hubs. Croce D'aune track pedals (Look new and are worth a touch more than $100). Second generation delta brakes. Looks like synchro 7 derailleur but with friction shifters. Paint isn't the most beautiful.
I'd give this a $600-750 value. Brakes and pedals are worth $250 minimum.

Now that there are pics though, it can be more accurately estimated.
BTW- here's the first generation C-Record rear (actually from a group with '84 dated cranks):

Attached is a quick photo I just took of the two pedals:
The one on the left and attached to crank is Croce D'aune. Has silver cages, different shapes in its curvy parts and no allen headed grease port.
The one on the right is Record C. Has black cages, grease port, lower profile and is _far lighter.
Your derailleur is from the non synchro, 5 and 6 speed days and I owned that full group on my Spectrum that I built in 83 (I think, could've been 84 or 85).
I've got a ergo seven derailleur on my Coppi now, but that's a year later than the synchro 7 one.

Yup; the derailleur I pictured was the first C-Record, when 6 speed was in. That one was on a '85 Merckyx "funny bike" that I bought just for the early C-Record group (with alloy Campagnolo 6 speed freewheel & Cobalto brakes).
